Only a millennial living in a bubble could possibly call a Sub a dress watch.

A golden smartwatch is probably their ultimate dress watch. (I'm a millennial. Younger ones :p)

Hell, i haven't even worn pants for the past 3 months. Mostly i wear my SD, but sometimes when feeling really fancy in my shorts, i wear the patek and prance around the house. My wife is unimpressed.

Both look right at home in their respective settings. That day-date looks great.

Do you think this statement says more about you or more about a millennial?

I know, right? I’m a millennial by common definition and I would consider a Sub a dress watch, depending on the definition of “dress”. In the purest definition, from what I’ve commonly read, a dress watch would be a simple three hander, precious metal, leather strap. I consider a dress watch any watch that I would wear in my professional setting, or say, a wedding. Which means, almost any watch in my collection, including my Sub. However, what would I know, I’m just a millennial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Submariner with a suit is more inappropriate for me.
A Datejust and Day Date will always be my ideal pick when I wear suits. A Day Date would still go nice at the beach with just beach attire.

It seems the best argument that the pro Sub suit wearers can muster is it doesn't matter anymore & everyone is doing it now. If we follow that logic, you may as well wear tennis shoes & a baseball cap with your suit as well. Add a red nose for some much needed individuality.

As long as we're not citing the fictional character James Bond as justification, do what works for you!

Nevermind the watches, how about a suit at the beach, or swimwear at the office?

A Sub would make a suit more appropriate for the beach and a Day-Date would make swimwear more appropriate for the office.

Would I wear a Sub with a suit, yes why not and have done so on many occasions at work and socializing. Would I wear a DD with a suit? No not even with shorts, T shirt and flip flops at the beach. DD's and anything with a fluted bezel have zero appeal to me and would never buy one.

This. A DD is still a sports watch, no issues at the beach, same with the sub. I’d never wearing a sub with a suit either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

And what kind of "sport" is the DD designed for? Unless posting pictures of your wrist on the internet is considered a sport these days...

I don’t know, playing tennis? I really don’t think it has to have a specific purpose, I just think it’s looks, build and waterproofing make it such. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't really care too much about what's approiate I usually wear what I most enjoy. Howver if I had to choose I think the sub with a suit woudl be more inappropriate for me . I love the look of the sub but I feel like it doesn't really match a suit too well . To me it feels a bit out of place. I don't totally hate it on the suit but personally I feel the datejust at the beach is more appropriate as I feel it can be dressed down

Don't listen to the haters. It's all about how you wear the watch. Don't let the watch wear you.
