Years of drinking it with my father made me found the unique taste in Nescafe clasico dark roast with milk as smoother.

The scale has a timer and a silicon pad to protect the plate from heat. I pour chemex directly on the scale. Quite affordable at less than $30 from Amazon.

The Baratza is a great machine. This one is over six years old. I gifted one to a friend in Europe three years ago. It runs fine on European power without any transformers.

Where do you all get authentic Kona coffee in terms of shipping to mainland USA, or Jamaican blue mountain, ?

I haven't had that experience with mine. Have you considered a drop of superglue?

I have a shardor grinder and it’s amazing. Plus, I can put it away when done.

Nothing beats a naturally foamy cup of fresh roasted black coffee with no sugar or cream needed.

Sweet. I’ve been using them for almost 3 years now. The number of roasters they use has grown so much.

Hula daddy delivers kona. Honestly I’ve come to the realization that buying from Jamaica or Hawaii doesn’t yield better coffee than say Ethiopia or Central America. But as they say, buy what you like

Agree. The roaster has so much influence on the outcome that source alone becomes almost meaningless.

I am enjoying a couple Costa Rica SO's from Auggie's in Redlands, CA that are as good as any of the Kona I have had.

Anybody here tried oat milk in lieu of cow milk for your lattes and cappuccinos? I’ve been a purist up until now, organic whole milk only, but I have to say the oat milk was pleasantly surprising. Rather than a hippy tree-bark taste, I was greeted with a nutty and earthy flavor that was a pleasing alternative to my normal drinks. It steams a bit different, and you need more air introduced to get a good consistency, but overall I like it and mouth feel is great.

Machine... Slayer (I believe they're all direct plumb though). La Marzocco GS3 would be a good "home" choice as you can directly plumb it or use good filtered water in the built-in tank.

Grinder... Kafatek Monolith Flat Max (single dose).

I'm not Espresso making guy but I enjoy one when it is made for me. Perhaps I should be learning how to make the perfect cup.

IMHO the water is a very key component to a great espresso or cup of coffee. An under the sink triple water filter system may be a good investment, 5 gallon bottle water delivery service or buy cases and use bottled water.

Consumer Reports reviewed this Espresso maker and it may be worth a look...

Ratings Scorecard Test Results
Taste = Excellent
Convenience = Very Good
Frothing = Very Good
Weight (lbs.) = 16

The DeLonghi EN680 is part of the Coffee maker test program at Consumer Reports. In our lab tests, Coffee maker models like the EN680 are rated on multiple criteria, such as those listed below.

Taste: Taste is the evaluation of the espresso by sensory experts.

Convenience: Convenience reflects setup to brew, noise, vibration, and stability, setup for next brew, and cleaning.

Frothing: Frothing is the quality of foamed milk produced in terms of firmness, fineness of pores, and stability.

I have found that Expensive Items are usually, well almost always better to buy but not always.

After several bean grinders we settled on the Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinder. However, I am ready to take it up to our place in the mountains and buy a OXO® Brew Adjustable Conical Burr Grinder for daily use. I can't recommend personally but CR rates it #1.

Technivorm Moccamaster is our Favorite Coffee Maker.

GOOD LUCK finding the perfect Espresso Maker and let us know what you settle on!
