I think this particular model will be a rocket on the market when Rolex stops producing it, or even they change details on the dial. Since 5 years it is exactly the same, no changes, so still MKI.

I find this much more appealing and appropriate for the price.

Thats the old question, with or without stones.

My last post was for both dials. Me personaly I prefer it with the light brown subdials

Is it possible to get put a black ceramic dial on the platinum model. I know, heresy. Its a matter of curiosity.

A real stunning watch - definitely will get you noticed anywhere you go.

Truly versatile since you can wear with jeans or with a tuxedo!

However, would not mistake it for a tool watch for sure, so don’t go out gardening with that one.

This watch is amazing. I love the ice blue dial and the way it blends with the brown bezel and sub dials. Stunner for sure. And with that price tag, the owner of this watch is in elite company.

It's a beauty, understated to the untrained eye and I love it.

Just saying.
I think iceblue and brown works pretty well, just did not fancy brown bezel myself so decided to just spice up my 116519. Lovely watch !
Rumours say Rolex had this in mind with the iceblue Daytona dial design but was probably a bit lazy so they came up with the funky brown bezel

I agree however it is much more difficult to craft platinum and the development is more lengthy and complicated as compared to gold which is much more malleable

Ever.

The only time I have really gotten any comments on it has been when I walk into a watch store, especially a Rolex AD. I have noticed that with that on my writst, I get lots of sales attention and they are happy to let me try on anything in the case.

The only other time is when a friend picks it up or tries it on (I occassionally with take it off my wrist to dry sweat etc.). They, nearly invariably, say "what the heck is this made out of.... lead?!"

A beautiful watch and, although I have been a serial flipper, I cannot imagine ever parting with it.
... although I have also learned to never say never when it comes to watches.
Agreed on the travel and AD but I never let anyone touch my watches

As far as PM, this is a hot seller and surely not something Rolex would discontinue anytime soon

OK, so it's not dripping with diamonds and other terrible bling bling cliches, but that doesn't mean it's understated, let alone 'pure' understated.

The model has been out five years. You don't see many, because people who travel in 'normal people' circles, don't spend that much money on a watch, but that doesn't mean it's flying under the radar.

Personally I much prefer the 116519LN, which is attractive but (a) more understated -it's a $30k watch which doesn't have a flashy/ shiny precious metal bracelet catching the sunlight; and (b) more sporty and masculine looking - I'm only 40-ish and not really ready to move to a delicate little retirement village where we'll watch the world go by while timing it with a luxury sports watch in some sort of metallic pastel baby-blue.

Still, takes all sorts to make a world.

Ummmm 99.9% of the population will mistake it for stainless. Perhaps more. Gorgeous piece but I’ll stick to Everose.

Well, there are special dials available only through Middle East boutiques. Basel 2018 novelties, a very quiet release.

It definitely holds a niche in the Daytona’s historic heritage. Not especially hard to get now, but once 116506 production ceases it could soar.

Mine is still missing but fondly remembered.

Just have to keep hoping the new owner eventually takes it to RSC for service. Unbelievably, the burglar only got $8,000 for it from his fence - so the guy who currently has it may be unaware it was stolen.

Thanks - I haven’t given any updates lately but the duo are still in jail with no bond.

This marks 1 year in custody for the crew leader.

Their lawyers assigned by the public defender’s office have delayed hearings repeatedly. From my research it is more from incompetence than strategy.

Prosecutors have crafted a deal that I can support but the games continue by the defense counsels.
