What collection are you aiming for?

After some inspiration! Be good to see what other people are working towards.

Personally I want a 4/5 watch collection. With a chronograph, diver, GMT, Dress and PM watch

Right now I’m thinking:
DaytonaC (have)
YG sub
BLNR (have)
DD40 PT (I have the YG on order)
Grand Reverso (have)
Lange 1 moon phase RG

only thing I don’t like about my target collection is no Patek or AP, but I guess I have to draw the line somewhere and it seems a good number to wear them all.

A diverse collection with a wide variety of uses.

A diverse collection. Brand and function wise. With slight emphasis on Rolex/Tudor. 8 is my magic number.

Daily: Explorer 214270 (check)
Big boy: Submariner 114060 (check)
Dress(ish): Reverso, Grand Seiko manual wind or vintage Datejust
"Beater": a Tudor Black Bay of some variety, ideally the 58 (although I'd love a blue variant)
Chrono: Zenith El Primero 38mm

That's where my head is at right now. I can't imagine needing more than that, although I certainly crush over the BLNR and the DJ41. Who knows what else will come into the picture over the years.

Nice, BB58 with colour would be perfect (I’d love a green bezel like the Harods BB), also I’m biased but go for the reverso :thumbsup

Good thread, I love these types of exercises. Gives a man a chance to dream for a bit.

I am happy with my 3 (OP, DJ, YM), but am considering putting the DJ & YM towards a DD, keeping the OP.

The moon watch and bronze Tudor will remain regardless.

What collection are you aiming for?

Tudor North Flag
Tudor Black Bay Blue Rose
Rolex DJ
Rolex Milgauss
JLC master chronograph
A Lange & Sohne Saxonia RG
Glashutte Original Senator
AP Royal Oak TT RG

That’s 8/8 with 2 empty slots in the box. I don’t feel compelled to make it a full house but I’ll have space for incidental gifts That’s also a forever set, will have no plans to sell any after acquisition.

Bonus picks:
AP 15407 Skeleton
PP 5726 Anual Calendar
PP 5712 Moon Phase
SS Daytona White Dial
YG Daytona OF Gold Dial

I'm still thinning out the collection and then I'll focus on acquisition. Goal is to have 2 to 3 watches from Rolex, AP and Patek with a SS and PM from each brand. I think 8 watches that have various complications and have all different types of PM gives enough variety but keeps the collection small enough that I'll actually wear them all.

What collection are you aiming for?

I’ll play. No particular order...

1. AP Royal Oak
2. BLNR on Oyster
3. DJII — Blue Dial/Fluted/Oyster
4. Hulk
5. SubC Date
6. Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch
7. Patek 5196R
8. Panerai 112
9. Polar Explorer

I currently only have the BLNR and DJII but I can dream! ;) Sub will most likely become my daily once I get the call. AD said it’s promising so we’ll see.

I’m shooting for a well rounded collection around function, brand, and color/style... Though it’s obviously weighted more on the Rolex side. Opinions welcome.

I’ve looking for a theme for my collection and have finally decided on one. I want to collect all the different bezels.
1. I have a GMT-II with aluminum bezel.
2. Have a DJ with domed bezel.
3. Next I’ll get either a SubC with the ceramic bezel
4. or a YM with the raised-digit platinum bezel.
5. Eventually something with a fluted bezel.
6. And my wife already has a diamond bezel DJ.
7. Should probably throw in a Tudor Pelagos Blue since they have the lume actually on the bezel

I like simple watches. I don't really use many complications. My final four collection will be:

1) Explorer 114270

2) DJ36

3) White gold Lange 1

4) Rose gold Lange 1815 up down

My ultimate fantasy is to have one and only one watch from each of my favorite brands. The difficulty is to find my favorite reference from each brand.

It could look something like this:

Rolex Sub
Panerai PAM000
Omega Speedmaster pro
Patek Nautilus 5711
AP Royal Oak
etc.

Great thread.
My ideal collection is no more than 10 in regular rotation, like worn at least 1-2x per month. Does not include a few sentimental pieces not worn often but will never get rid of, like grandpa’s watch etc. My ideal collection would simply be watched that sing to me; stuff I like and enjoy wearing. Each time I put one on, I think “man this could be my only watch and I’d be happy”.

Currently in rotation:: SubC, DaytonaC black, DJ41 TT, DJ36 SS Blue, Speedmaster triple date, seiko padi solar, G Shock.
Sentimental: Grandpa’s watch (bulova), watch given as wedding gift (Emporio Armani), watch my wife gave me when we first started dating (Armani Exchange), first automatic watch (Tag professional 2000).

Would be very interested in adding:
AP ROC, one haute horological complication/grand complication, Yellow or Rose gold Rolex. But who knows, the longer I wait between purchases, the more I bounce around lol.

I really like this, the more I get in to watches, I appreciate simple complications even more. The Lange 1815 up/down is one I have spent a lot of time looking at. Beautiful watch.

Haha you’re lucky that 2 is all you want! Watch collecting can be a never ending pursuit! I think those two are beautiful. If I was to go with two, I think I would go with a Rolex and Patek... maybe BLNR on oyster and Patek 3940? Some good variety there which would keep me very content.

It’s always a moving target for me.

Here’s where I am.

Thinking of consolidating my GMT into one white gold BLRO, adding a 5712r and maybe adding a 5320g perpetual calendar.

Wowser! great stuff indeed. I think just the aquanautilus combo would be a great 2 watch collection on their own.

For me I am nearly there and ideally I think 3 is all I need.
reverso duoface night/ day
polar expii 16570
214270

hoping for a BB58 soon and that may release the explorer if I don't want to go to 4.

Here’s mine - I probably have far too much time on my hands, but created an album of my ideal collection

Speedy and Sub are next on my list, those checked are the ones I already have.

Would like to eventually add in a dress piece hence the DJ, and this also gives me a jubilee option. Exp2 is just cool and offers a white dial option which I’d like to add back in after selling my OP last year.

However, I often think that having this many would be a shame, as some might not get the wrist time which they deserve...I also enjoy the sentimental value and association of having one watch, but don’t think I’ll ever get to this stage.
