Rolex vs Timex

Of course! Brand and price point have a very weak correlation to the level of enjoyment from owning a watch.

As long as a watch matches your ideal criteria for aesthetics, haptics, and function, it will always have a place in a collection.

Yes, absolutely, and the Timex is probably more accurate.

I have a Timex chronograph that I really like.

It even has a jumping hour function for traveling and setting the date

Currently, I have 6 Rolex and 2 Timex in the collection.

I miss my first Timex Indiglo though. Got it as a kid. Dunno where i lost it.

And for both Rolex and Timex, not sure how to pluralise them. :)

I wish people would stop equating expensive with collecting or enjoyment. If you enjoy a certain kind of watch, does that make you less because it’s not a Rolex? I certainly hope not. I want to celebrate that we’re all enjoying watches at a time when you can tell time on your phone!

BTW, I have the Timex Q with the Pepsi bezel and I love that watch. It wears so well and they really nailed the color and the vintage vibe. That watch piqued my interest in Pepsi bezels and ultimately led me to the Tudor GMT.

So YES. All watches have their place in your collection.

My Timex AD told me 2 year waiting list, unless I bought a bundle of PM pieces and jewelry

The colors of the Timex might actually make me appreciate it more in the long term. I like some color in my watches. I used to be into monotone styles but my taste has changed completely over the years.

Its probably why my Explorer 2 gets so little wrist time now..

Purely from an aesthetic standpoint, I prefer the Timex. I prefer 12 hour bezels for travelling too. They're more intuitive and quicker to read once you know how to use them. And a day/date? Great!

Rolex vs Timex

My first ever watch was a Timex Red Baron/Flying Ace.

It kept good time too until I dismantled it to see how it worked and couldn’t put it back together again.

I think Timex is a copycat with those "colorful" bezels.

I agree.

As I learn more and more about watches, I see more and more copying.

Like the omega aqua terra with a green dial.

It looks nice, but did omega release that because of the popularity of Rolex green dials?

I feel like a green dial means something for Rolex, because of the green boxes and displays, but not so much for omega

Also, the new Breitling rainbow for covid 19. It looks nice, but why a rainbow? Because of the Rolex Rainbow Daytona popularity?

So I see a lot of companies copying Rolex.

However, Rolex once copied the submariner from Blancpain no ?

And probably got ideas for the Daytona from the Speedmaster and El Primero, because the Daytona was originally just a Cosmograph.

Everyone copies from everyone lol

I agree completely. My collection is down to a Rolex DJ and a Timex Ironman, never happier.

I agree, of the two I prefer the look of the Timex. I wonder if you can get it, or put in, on a strap?

After seeing that Timex, I think I’m going to order one. I actually like that it’s 38mm. Is the green matte, or bright? I prefer it matte. Thanks.

Definitely! I have a Timex Wood Wood that I’ve always loved/found to be hilarious. It’s a great looking simple watch but the best part is the watch’s backlight, which reads GET LOST in giant text. It’s supposed to mean go out and explore but I interpret it as “you’re too close to me, get lost!”

Timex makes nice watches, It does no justice to compare the 2. The explorer 2 in this pic would be my choice just solely based on aesthetics.
