GMT 16758. Sapphire replaced by Acrylic crystal

Hi guys

Can one replace the original sapphire crystal if the 16758 with an acrylic crystal ?

I really like the look of acrylic. Does someone know? Which crystal to use ?

I hear that 1675/8 inserts don’t fit the 16758 so it’s possible that the 1675 acrylic crystals won’t fit the 16758 either.

Your help is appreciated.

Wont fit. Sapphire crystal has a gasket and different size retaining ring.

Thank you. Do you think a tropic 38 would fit on the case. But the original 16758 bezel and retaining ring won’t because the tropic 38 is not the same outside diameter as the sapphire with plastic seal ?
