DD40. I was looking for a DD2 and wanted one for the longest time. Finally found one and tried it. Boy did it look off on my wrist. I have a DJ2 and it does not look as big. I decided for a DD40 and could not be happier. The proportions are just right. A true masterpiece.

I would also love to see some comparison pics. I'm looking to purchase my first full PM watch later this year and the DD is on my want list. I have a 7.5"wrist and feel the DD40 may be a little too small.

Main beef with Day-date 40

Size: I want more gold and a larger case makes it more sporty for casual attire

Dials: Boring dials overall. The baguette diamond dials in particular are unimpressive

I prefer the DD40 proportions but I appreciate that sector dial on the platinum DD II posted above

Day Date II vs. Day Date 40

I haven't ever tried a DDII or a DD40 on my 7 inch round wrist, would probably choose the DD40 from those 2. In the meantime am happy with my 36mm DD

I love the wave dial on the DD2. I wonder if they’ll bring back sone of those cool dials to the DD40?

The DD was never intended to become a 44 with tons of bling for "sporty" casual. It's an iconic watch with a rich history that in it's simplest of forms speaks volumes.

I have found that on my platinum Daydate 2, which has a smooth bezel, is seems nicely proportioned.
However, on my SS Datejust 2, the fluted bezel definitely makes the watch seem larger.

Day Date 2 was all of that and more. Sadly now it's kinda boring and conservative. I like the ceramic making the bracelet not stretch overtime tho!

Hi which did you end up getting? Ive got a Day Date 2 218238 with a factory champagne dial which is the best imo.
But I'm really tempted to swap it for a 40.
The Day Date 2's are worth a lot and holding their value and I've been offered a straight swap for a 40 from a few jewellers down in London but I'm really not sure.
What do you guys think?

DD40 for me. The proportions are much closer to the 36m Original.

Here’s mine. Sub date, DD40, DJII, and DJ 36

I bought the DJ41 first, sight unseen. I never liked it. Hated the proportions of the bezel. The smooth bezel for the DJ/DDII is a better choice.

The DD40 is perfect for me every way in a causal wear attire. Many here regard the DJ/DDII case as sportier, it just never felt that way to me.

I saw an interview with a second hand dealer recently and he mentioned that there was a big demand for DD2 now.

DD40 for me. I like the proportions and dial configurations. Reminds me of the classic 1803.

DD2 is just too busy (most dials) and feels looks like a bubble for its shape.

I owned a DD II with the white dial; the one in the photo. I now own a YG DD 40, though with a silver dial.

The Day-Date II is a cool watch. Very bold and had some neat dial options.

Started with the black dial, but couldn’t read it easily, so swapped to white Roman.

Now, I’d really love to land a DD40 in yellow gold with a silver or white Roman dial. The proportions of the new watch suit me better.

I much prefer the proportions of the DD40 over the DDII.
DD40’s dial size to case ratio is perfect to my eyes, and the lugs are just spot on.
The way the president bracelet engages the lugs and case on the DD40 makes it a masterpiece. Visually the bracelet appears to flow right under the watch case highlighting it as a design element, whereas the same connections on the DDII appear oddly bulbous.

Adding the deconstructed Romans and a better movement with 70-hr power reserve make the DD40 a no-brainer for me.
