The horror!!

Typically I just ignore posts like this. No offense OP, this is not directed at you specifically, but I'm not sure what posts like this accomplish. These are antiquated, luxury clocks; if you're uncomfortable wearing them, then don't. If you're worried about getting robbed, don't wear one. That's all.

Practice vigilance. We got that. That message was loud and clear 1,000 robbery postings ago...

Phew, that felt good

I will never bet against a law and order region that has to deal with Godzilla and Kong causing utter chaos at any moment.

That was irony.

It almost doesn't matter which city you are in. These days, the news around here is often about robbery, armed robbery, gang robbery, motorcycled robbery. As if this is the new habit to get a watch from an AD. Since the perpetrators are not caught, more and more people will get into this risk-free business. This will be the usual.

That's why I wrote: It's just business as usual all over the world. Or at least, ceteris paribus this will be the business as usual. And I don't like it at all.

You clearly have no idea, how Hong Kong is like.
You can‘t compare it to other metropoles in terms of criminality.

Your attempt of doubling-down is just making your initial comment even worse.

I like reading posts like this. I like wearing my watch and it reminds me to stay on my toes and keep a lookout for the latest routines that criminals use. If you don't like reading these threads, then don't.

I've never done that. I said that these kinds of robberies are spreading all over the world because the criminals have a low risk with a possiblity to gain a huge profit in just minutes. The establishment of this fact can therefore have nothing to do with a specific city.

However, I can agree that there are huge differences, since in Hong Kong the marauders were already arrested within a few days.

See, that's what I call a huge difference.

In HK people just don’t steal as much to begin with. The people might try to fool you or scam you in business transactions, but shoplifting and robberies are very uncommon.

Why pretend the base rate of criminality is comparable everywhere? It’s not. Your chance of being robbed in Singapore is close to zero. Your chance of being robbed in Caracas or Cape Town is so high that it’s hardly even worth the effort to open a watch dealer there.

You did this, not me. I can only repeat myself: I never spoke about the rate of criminality. I spoke about a raising number of this kind of robberies all over the world. It has nothing to do with the living in HK or even anything else.

OP... you need to learn how to properly format a Original post instead of merely dropping a link and never returning.
