Great movie, but I couldn’t tell you the name or the name of the main actor, I can picture him but no idea what to call him

A salesman, barely making it, has a loving wife. Meets someone who recognizes his sales ability and convinces him to move to LA, where he starts making a killing selling real estate to drug dealers laundering money. Then the law changes and his income starts to tumble, AND, he gets in to the drug scene.

Gradually, his addiction increases and his life decreases. It is a very sad story but great movie.

Why can’t I remember any of the names?
