Insurance claim paid , what to buy ?

I’ve just got off the phone from my insurance company and they have told me that they’ll give me a £14000 voucher to spend in Golsmiths , Mappin and Webb or Watches of Switzerland .

I was burgled a couple of months ago and had an old DateJust stolen and an Omega Speedmaster 57.
I’m happy with the insurance companies replacement valuation and to be fair it’s not the end of the world having to use their preferred supplier .

I just think that I have used my local AD for a few years now and I’m oretty sure he’d be able to get hold of a lot better selection then the stores I have vouchers for.

I still have no idea what I should buy for £14000 too , I already have the Hulk , Batman , Black GMTc , 2 DateJust 41s , the new steel Yachtmaster and a rose gold Daytona.
So any suggestions what I should get for that price ?

Trade in the two 41DJ + £14k for DD40 upgrade to PT950.

Sounds like a good insurance company. Care to share their name?
Also, it might not be legal to force you to take vouchers to spend at their designated outlets. I’d challenge them, and take a cheque instead.
Skydweller missing!

Don’t know what the pricing is in the UK but I would go for a DJ41

Never mind. Saw the smaller wrists thing. What would you have to add to get a DD 36?

Maybe instead of forcing you to use their voucher, spend out of pocket and submit a receipt for reimbursement. Ask them if this an option. then you are not limited to stock on hand at their vendor of choice.

116655. It’s simply astonishing, very sporty wear with sophistication that works in a lot of circumstances. Also, you already wear a RG and are familiar with divers, so that should fit nicely...

personally i would get a different insurance company. No way i would buy a watch from those AD's period.

Plus, even if you are OK with that AD i would have an issue with them forcing you to use them.

He already owned two (2) DJ41. Doubt he want to add another third DJ41.

Yeah I was wondering if I could challenge them as I’d be more likely to get what I wanted from my local AD , I’m actully next on the list for a steel Daytona at my AD so it would more than pay for that if I could get them to change

It’s funny you should say that but I actually live the Chocolate dial rose gold version , I’d be tempted to have another and nearly enough left for a no date sub

So close to Baselworld why not wait and see what new releases. Maybe speak to the designated AD’s to let them know of your plans and gauge their response.

Unless that was stated in your insurance terms when you purchased, I would challenge.

Yes I would push for this, in this market ADs don't have much in SS so limiting you further is very unfair. Maybe good idea to go PM and sell one piece you have.

Ask them if you can pay your premium in the form of train vouchers. See what they say. Its the same as money right? Then they might see your point.

Almost certainly within the terms and conditions given that OP is in the UK. Personally I think you've had a great settlement on a new for old basis.

UK insurance companies generally have agreements with large suppliers and a £14,000 voucher probably wouldn't have cost them more than £11,000. OP would be entitled to ask for a cash settleme but that would be for around that figure.

I'd definitely wait till Baselworld before making a choice.

I personally would wait until Baselworld ... you never know there might be something you like or Rolex surprises us with.
