Thanks, guys. Yup, I feel very lucky. I also will say that I’ve gotten to know these two separate ADs personally over the years, and cultivating a relationship with them went a long way. The AD where I bought my white dial commented about the elation he saw on my face when I tried it on for the first time. I think he knows how grateful I am, especially considering I never bought from them.

Staring at your watches every day for 10 minutes debating which one to wear... the problem is real and just got worse

Stephen, if you allow me to ask, I saw that you had the blue 5711 before and sold it. Why did you decide to buy it again? And isn't it a bit too much overlap to have 2 5711 and a 5712?

Excuse me if I am crossing any red line here, I am just curious to get the reasoning from an experienced collector. Yes it is not a big deal to enjoy 5711 with different colors for a while then sell the unwanted one later at a potential profit. But is that the only reason or am I missing anything?

Personally, although I love both colors of the 5711, but I would be very much hesitant to buy both even if money is not an issue. I would rather have a different watch for variety, but that just me and I wanted to get the opposite point of view

Not crossing a line. One reason I sold it was to fund a bigger purchase. I thought I was done with the Nautilus line after getting the white dial (although the R looks and feels incredible, so who knows!). However, when the opportunity presented itself, I decided to buy the blue again. I did have pangs of regret when I sold it, so I didn’t want to pass on this chance knowing that it could be years before I would get another chance. I have two kids, so if both 5711 Nautilus survive in my collection, each kid will get one. As for the 5712, it is my favorite Nautilus, and I don’t see it as an overlap in any way. Other than the bracelet and physical feel, the wearing experience for me of the 5712 is extra special.

Back to the 5711 blue (and white for that matter), the fact that it can be flipped for a profit (at present) and likely maintain its value (at worst) in the future is just an added bonus.

Lastly, the only other Patek on my wish list at present is the 5131r. I have my fingers crossed 🤞 that I’m given a chance to get one. So the funds I put to the 5711 blue would not have gone to anything else watch-wise anyway.

Thank you so much for your reply and you're certainly a great dad thinking about giving each child a 5711. This idea alone justifies the purchase. I wish you enjoy your watches to the max.

If you get the 5131r, are you going to have another child or just really start taking stock of which of the two you love more?
