Incoming! Panerai Luminor Due 3 Days Titanio (PAM00728)

This is a watch I like far more even than I thought I would. I know the Due range is getting a lot of hate from the Panerai hardcore, but I think that's really a shame. It brings something new (smaller, thinner, dressier) to Panerai in my opinion, without losing the essence of the brand. I don't plan to take this anywhere near water, so the limited water resistance (30m), is of no concern to me. I know it can be argued the crown guard is pointless, but it still protects the crown physically, as well as aiding the water/dust resistance somewhat (and it is of course iconic to the Luminor).

The movement looks quite nice, and is proving pretty accurate (+4 so far, which is fine by me), and also winds beautifully, probably the best feeling manual wind watch I have (and I have some nice ones). The watch overall is very well finished, not perhaps to the very highest level, but not far off in my opinion.

The titanium case is quite thin (just over 10mm, but being a relatively large 42mm in diameter, it feels even thinner on the wrist), and obviously light, contributing to a super comfortable watch to wear (I barely know it's there). The dial is stunning, with the typical sunburst "changing with the light" characteristic - it doesn't always shout as loudly as it might appear from the direct sun pictures below.

I bought it new from a German dealer I discovered via Chrono24, for what I consider to be a very good price (roughly 25% off the full RRP). I don't believe it to be a limited edition, even though it says "X of 500" on the back - I'm relatively new to Panerai, is this the number they make each year perhaps?

Congratulations

I tried this one on last summer at the Panerai boutique in Firenze. I think they are super nice and I simply love that blue dial From what I gather the number you refer to indicates the piece produced each year. I don’t believe it’s a limited edition.

Enjoy it

Congrats! You have a winner there on the 728!

Yes it’s 500 pcs for this maiden year. Hopefully Panerai will stop producing it and it will become a limited edition. :)

I believe Panerai hit it right with all the features found in this watch - foremost is the blue dial. From what I have seen in ADs shelves, this model is doing better than the original black dial.

Wear the watch in good health!

Congrats- gorgeous! Looking forward to trying on the 728 at some point . You are right, it’s not a LE. Panerai did a run of 500 this year “T series”. The next run will have a different letter in front of it and may or may not be /500.

Seven and a quarter inches (and quite flat across the top).

I have 6.5 with dreaded wrist brone exploding out. I’ve owned so many 42s almost all of them and always end up flipping them. I have not owned a due and this one seems the one to have. I’m just so hesitant given my history of ownership. This one won’t be top heavy but I’m not sure that’s enough. To be clear it’s not that they look too big it’s that they don’t sit right.

Understood, the only way is to try it on first really (or at least buy from somewhere with a good return policy, if you have nowhere local that stocks it). I can confirm weight won't be an issue at all, it's very light being titanium, and what weight there is sits low because it is so relatively thin compared to its diameter.

Looks great -congrats on the beauty!

My wrist is just too small for this watch. It needs to be in the 1940 case and 42mm.

It is, isn't it? I'm far from an expert though - it's certainly 42mm, and looks like the "1940 case" when I googled it!
