Help! Problems with my 1603 cal. 1570

Hi everybody,

When I set time today the I felt the crown going too easy and when turning backwards the second hand did not stop as usual (no hacking effect). Moreover I realized now that although the second hand is ticking normally, the minute hand is not transported forward. Before I realized that I thought the watch stopped so I tried to wound, but it was hard to get grip on the wheel for winding (took me several attempts). What could be the problem? What could have caused it? Is it a big deal to repair. Would be nice to get some comments, so I don't look like an idiot when I will bring it to the watchmaker.

Hi Kooltzar, this doesn't necessarily sound like it is a problem with the time keeping and automatic winding side of the watch. If you have a problem with the seconds hand not stopping on anti-clockwise wind, and the minute hand not moving then it could just be a a problem with the setting/winding function on the dial side of the watch.

It's possible that it is only a simple issue. A spring, setting yoke or clutch wheel may be misaligned in the setting function which is the part of a watch that divides the functions for winding/setting the date/setting the time.

If this has happened it would make it difficult to change from winding to hand setting and also using those functions correctly.

Unfortunately it's impossible to tell without seeing the watch or the movement but a skilled watchmaker should be able determine the problem.

Hope this helps.

watchmaker opened it and could not find any problem. Very strange, as this is one of the top watchmakers who worked for ages at Rolex itself.
