I will be receiving a used Sub 14060 soon. The hands on watch have been replaced w/ service hands. From the pix I seen the hands are brighter than the dial markers. Do I go to a AD to see if I can get dial relumed (not sure if this service is offered) or get dial replaced? Any idea what the AD will charge me? Can I take it else where for service? 1st watch & very new to this. TIA for any info..

Do you have the original hands? If so, I'd put them back on and leave it as is. An AD probably would not relume the dial for you. Rolex replaces dials but they charge around $550 last time I checked.

I'm not a vintage expert but replacing a nice, original dial sounds like a bad move to me.

It's got to be easier to find older hands that will be a better match...

I'm new to this too. I love rolex's! I'm obsessed like a kid at Christmas lol. Dullyjay I think it looks sexier with the original worn items.

Although a 14060 is not really a vintage yet, you still have one here with a Tritium dial and a very nice vanilla color patina. I would not give that up for a Luminova replacement dial. The hands are probably already Luminova, but that is not for sure. Sometimes hands age differently than the dial markers. You can either source a pair of Tritium hands matching dial color or keep these, in case you like to check time in the dark (as the Tritium one will probably not glow a lot anymore).

Since finding a matching set of hands can be time-consuming, a simple option would be to match a set of hands to your dial. This would allow you to retain dial originality (which has the greater value), while enjoying some consistency between dial and hands.

If you enjoy the "hunt", you can then take your time finding a near-perfect set of tritium hands. Install the hands during regular service for minimal installation costs.
