date problems.

Hi:
I am new to the forum.
I have a ladies oyster perpetual datejust. The date is sticking, and only changes if I manually change it.
Also, if I try to manually wind it, it is very hard to turn, and I can hear a scraping type sound.

Other than this, it runs and keeps time well.

Any thoughts what the problem could be? If so, any guess on cost to repair it?

Thanks so much for your help!

It will well be worth the 15 seconds or so it will take to find Rik. I still don't have pics of the Air-King he just serviced, but will tell you it looks fabulous and runs even better.

You don't say how old this watch is, but the symptoms would indicate lack of lubrication.. It is also possible that the spring lever for the auto-change has broken. With this spring broken, it will not slap the day automatically over to a new day. The manual set position uses a different gear set. That broken piece may be dragging on something when you attempt to wind it.. Of course, this is all speculation.. The fix is a proper service..

Hi Tools:
Thanks so much for the reply. The watch is from the late 90s.
I guess it looks like I am going to have to save up, and hopefully this upcoming year have it serviced.
Thanks again!

Hi Folks,

I am also new to the forum, but am finding a lot of interesting info therein...
Just like Cincy 1020 I am having date changing issues with my "Datejust 116200 - M Series, from 2007" which I bought recently. At the time of purchase "which I did online" from Authentic Time Inc, based in Duluth Georgia, although I am based in the UK. It was an unworn piece & changed from a Pink Index Dial, to a MOP dial with 10 Diamonds.
The problem I have is that the date changes during the late afternoon early evening, say between the hours 0f 5:00pm - 6:00pm, instead of some minutes after 12:00 Midnight as I understand it should????

Is this a major problem, does it just need a service.... what.... Please someone, anyone... Advice???? Many Thanks.
