My First Panerai - Pam 610

Dear fellows,

Yesterday I ordered my first Panerai, 610, from an AD. I'm excited and will post a couple pics when it comes this week, but a quick question..

I searched here.. But, there isn't much posting or talk around 610 that looks like 610 is not a popular watch here.. Does anyone know why??

Is it just too old or too plain perhaps?

It isn't old, it is newer!!! ;-)

I love basic Radiomirs. I've own(ed) 4 so far. The 610 looks awesome. Here are some of its siblings that I have. Enjoy that base Radiomir!

Congrats! If I'm not mistaken that's the "cousin" of my PAM560:

I'm hoping to receive it by this Friday. AD is ordering a new strap for me and will install it before sending to me.

I have a sense that 610 won't be my last or only Panerai. I already have my radar set on SLC, Submersible, and your 232.

There is something odd yet very attractive about these base Radiomirs case & dial. I considered used 190 since it has JLC movements, but I just liked the simple dial of 610 better. But, personally I think 232 is the most beautiful Pam ever. Once I am comfortable with 45mm 610, I think I am going for 47mm. :)

Speaking of 190.. I think that watch has a potential of becoming next Rolex Panerai.

I own the 610. I really like the Radiomir in a base configuration. The 610 probably isn't as popular as older Radiomir base models because of the "8 Day" text on the dial. Despite the model having a long power reserve, the in house movement is considered "entry-level." It's still a great model.

My only complaint is that the P5000 movement tends to run fast for the first day or so when fully wound. It evens out as the movement unwinds. This model has no seconds hand anyway, so it doesn't need to be super accurate.

Congratulations! One of the nicest Panerai models of all. I love the simplicity of the dial, and the 45mm size will fit just about any wrist. I have been seeing a lot of interest in this model recently, on a couple of forums, and I started out really liking it and now loving it!

If this is going to be your only Panerai, then it is IMO the best choice. Even if you get more, I think just this model will always be close to you.

Cheers,
Carl
