IMO if you can afford a 7500 dollar watch you can come up with the extra 1000 for a date lol. I have never heard any such talk bashing these "entry level" 8 thousand dollar watches or tudor hahahaha not to mention one of the most popular models out there.

Anyone who looks down on Tudor is missing out! Love my Tudor, and it gets more wrist time than my Rolex watches.

Tudor is for people who can't afford a real luxury watch - right? Anybody who really thinks that way doesn't have an opinion that is worth caring about. Rock that Tudor!

There are many, many people on this forum and in the world who own watches I can only dream of. Some own many different models of them. And I am fine with that. And if they look down on me, who cares? Tudor watches cost more than most can afford. Entry level Rolex's (whatever that means) are still Rolex.
Enjoy what you can afford.Let others hate or pity.
Life is simply too short to worry what others think.

Tudors are just classy. I like the vintage elements, chamfers old fashioned non maxi dials. Just sexy. Who doesn't want a Tudor Pelagos? Would rather have a Seamaster or SuperOcean etc?

Hey Josh, That's a nice Blue you have there! I was thinking about getting one but was worried about the titanium weight being a little light. How does it feel to you?

It is light. 110grams if I member correctly. A sub is 150. It does feel light compared to the sub. However light also = more comfort in this case.

According to someone on Watchuseek, the Pelagos is around 144g, depending on the number of links:

Perhaps I was misinformed. Although it does feel much lighter than a submariner and I was under the impression that the sub was 150grams give or take.

Yeah, they're close in weight. It likely has to do with weight distribution.

I LOVE the explorer I and my SubC! I actually don't like the sub-date at all.
Higher cost doesn't necessarily means nicer watch. Especially when everyone has different tastes.

Is there such thing as a starter Rolex? Is that like a sub or something? Because that's probably the most iconic piece in the Rolex line and everyone should have at least one in there collection.

And to confirm they aren't people from this forum. And I remember how I chose the exp I 39mm over a subc and a datejust II when given the choice. It wasnt really about price. But you know everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Bought a sub as my first Rolex and was a little underwhelmed initially, but have grown to love it, then acquired a bi metal get master 2 that is stunning. Start of this year got a Pelagos as a holiday watch, wow what a beauty, then a short while ago got a yellow Fast rider. Rolex are classically beautiful and purposeful while the Tudors are up to date in designs, size and styling and compliment Rolex superbly imo. I would like to see a 42mm sub with snow flake hands from Rolex, but Tudor seem to have that filled really.

I bought an Explorer 1 as my first Rolex because I loved the simplicity and symmetry of it. It wasn't about the money, it was about the watch. I've since purchased some others, but as I write this, the Explorer 1 is on my wrist and I still love it as much as I did when I bought it.

In my opinion, Tudor owners are trying too hard to get validation for their watches from Rolex owners. This is ironic since usually the number one reason one gravitates to a Tudor is to be under the radar. Can't have it both ways.

As I stated in my first post in this thread, it is unusual that a Rolex forum forces the Tudor owner base into the rest of the community. You don't see this at Acura forums or Audi forums as this natural rich-man-poor-man dichotomy would cause friction for the Honda and Volkswagen owners and annoy the Acura and Audi owners. While some of you apparently cross shop both brands, most Rolex owners would never consider a Tudor and so these Tudor threads are a distraction. I don't know what a Black Bay is and frankly I never want to know, it is somewhat unfortunate that we have to see it referred to in thread titles on a daily basis.

Apologies for digging this thread up but I somehow missed all the fun last month. Also wanted to say goodbye.

It's amusing that this thread still has legs, particularly since the OP sold his Pelagos the week after posting and then bought a 216570...

Tudor is a great brand with more exciting models compared to their more sophisticated elder brother Rolex. For example the bronze black bay and the black bay dark is something Rolex will not attempt.
Some may complain about a non in-house movement. But also don't understand most companies use modified eta movements and wrap them in precious metal with a 40k plus price tag. Heck even patek made Nautilus with a Valjoux movement.
At the end of the day, Tudor has made a mark in the watch world and is a born again brand it's a force to be reckon with.
