My wife does the same thing. In the pot will be her platinum set engagement and wedding ring. I got her a watch winder for her watch so at least that is separated now. Oh well, scratches add character.

Here's a story from a past life (35 years ago or so) when I was director of maintenance at a famous Utah ski resort lodging company. I was called to one of the condos where a bunch of women were having a girls only ski trip to celebrate one to the woman's recent divorce. One of them set her ring to soak in a glass by the sink. Another decided to do the dishes and everything was poured down the disposal. And, it was turned on... We tore the drains apart and only found some glittery pieces of gold and some sparkling pieces of dust. Apparently it was a large and expensive ring that was a significant chunk of the settlement. There was a "little" tension in the room when I left! I always wondered if the ex-husband had some serious schadenfreude after that one! |
