Really this again? Really? Oh well. Beats talking about constant lack of watches in AD windows. Wonder what tomorrow’s flavour of the day will be???

Agree it is indeed a shame. i miss the market decades ago when you'd acquire a fine mechanical timepiece because you admired the look, feel, and hand craftsmanship / quality. For some of us, it also felt like getting a fine timepiece brought a sense of personal accomplishment.

Today, it seems that (perhaps) people have no faith in always-devaluating currencies are so are looking for a storage of wealth. In a sense, it is not that a watch goes up in value, it is the declining buying power of local currencies (Dollar, Euro, Yen, Renminbi, etc) that people are seeking to protect the value of their efforts. The ongoing and continued flooding of said currencies by central bankers worldwide does not help matters.

Have NEVER seen things this crazy, not even during the dot com and housing bubble. Wonder what they'll call this bubble when it bursts.

Just the speculators wanting to make a quick buck thats all. I bet most the guys asking these type of questions dont even like Rolex or no passion for watches at all.

They just want to buy it at $10-11k now, hope it discontinues and then prey on all the suckers that will get the FOMO mentality and try to flip them for $14-15k to these people. Do this 10 times in a year and thats a some decent coin.

These type of questions are getting tiresome. And getting tired of these flippers to be completely honest.

What I fail to understand also is unless your sitting on 10 or 20 pieces how much can you seriously make in a short time period. Flipping 1 or 2 pieces or your personal piece is not going to make a big difference in your life in monetary terms.

If you look at the Chrono24 listings, the 2018 Models are way more prevalent than the older ones. So I doubt a discontinuation will happen - I think the contrary, Rolex is finally catching up with the demand!

or that could imply that people are only buying to flip. older ones where bought to keep and they were easier to get then too. Doesnt surprise me that once you add a premium they dont even get worn.

That’s my take. You see a shift in models when they get “hot”. The watch date tells the story what happened and what’s going on with it.

Like all watches, it's going to have its run and replaced with a newer model. But I suspect not anytime soon, certainly not next year.

The same rumor has been going on for three years now, and I sort of fell for it last year. To this day, I am ashamed that I had bought my LVc 10% over retail (around US$10k). All the other sports Rolexes I had bought last year were at SRP and below, even the BLNR, and the SubC LN.

After that mistake with the Hulk, I swear I was never going to get scalped again. MSRP or less, rumors be damned.
