Nice!! Even better that the watch was your fathers.

I wish I had one thing that was my dads.

I have nothing but about 30 Taco Bell Chihuahua toys that I found in a box when clearing out his apartment after he passed. I am sure he thought they would increase in value so he put them away. They are still wrapped in plastic and I am sure that he got one for free when he ordered food from there every month when he got his SSI check. He was murdered for that check about 20 years ago by a young man he had tried to help by letting him live with him while getting back on his feet.

Anyway... Very nice Jim!

My latest acquisition

It's the 90th Anniversary 145. Issued in 2014, these were the first pens to have the rose gold finish in the Meisterstuck line.

Montblanc

I love my Montblancs. I have four of them. The oldest one I have had for close to 30 years.

The perspective of that photo fooled me. And I thought the Pel was a 1000. LOL

Thanks!

BTW. Do you have a 139? I am on the hunt myself.

Love the HP12C touch there.

I got the Beatles Edition a while back and am loving that. I use it probably the most of all my FP's.

Well, to say i'm disappointed in my new Montblanc would be an understatement.

3 weeks into ownership and the pen was still skipping and hard starting. Tried a few flushes and different inks and no improvement so it went into the MB boutique. 2 weeks on and no update so I went in yesterday to find out what's happening. The response was they're replacing the nib. This is a brand new pen - no excuses to be honest. I've had plenty of other brands and never an issue (apart from my Pelikan which was dropped and split in half).

I have had the same experiences with MB fountain pens, but have found them to be so simple, as with any fountain pen, to take apart and fix what is needed.

With MBs you need the right tools which you can Google up. But still a simple fix for the most part. Never had to replace a nib and I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't help. The problem usually lies with alignment and feed to nib placement and so on.

I had a similar issue. My 146 White Solitaire skipped on the upstroke since new. I couldn't take it any longer sent it in for service and it came back with the same issue (I think they just tried to polish the issue out of the nib). It was returned with polishing compound residue in the threads and hairlines in the segment that weren't there when it went in. That was my 3rd 146. Stupid me I bought the Gold Leaf Edition next #4 and it has the dreaded cap/barrel stiction (not quite perfectly round). Not sure I want to send it in to have them make it worse.

My pen is back from the boutique. A brand new nib and it’s perfect! This is what I expected it to be so I’m very pleased.

I’m now looking for my next piece but I’d like to stick to the limited / special editions.

Congrats....
Good call! Although my Gold Leaf Edition with the Calig. nib has the cap and barrel issue. That was more than likely my last MB.

The MB salesman got me on a good day and had me try several nibs last week. The calligraphy nib was crazy good. I just have no idea how and when a nib like that would be used. Maybe for writing letters?

I’ve actually started looking at Pilots and Sailors again this evening. There are some great options which I think I’d maybe like to add.

I have quite a few Japanese (and Japanese made) fountain pens from Sailor, Eboya, Pilot, Platinum, Namiki, Danitrio and Nakaya. If you want more information feel free to ask.
