AP Code 11.59

opinions.... feedback....

https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...A002KB.01.html

Ref. 26393NB.OO.A002CA.01 and 26393NR.OO.A002CA.01

Like many people in the watch community I was not at all thrilled with the introductory models of the AP Code 11.59. In fact I tried one on at an AP boutique in 2019. I was not impressed by the simplistic dial and felt in fact it was a bit cheap looking/feeling. I have now discovered the chrono w/ the textured rubber strap. I am re exploring this version as I think it is much more interesting and esthetically pleasing. Still feel the case size is a bit bulky but the more I learn about the construction the more impressed I am with the timepiece.

Will this new collection become a mainstay for AP?

They seem to be expanding the line. I am warming up to the new changes and design directions. The Royal Oak was not a hit at first nor was the Off Shore.

Love to know what you are all thinking....

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND INSIGHT.

It's not bad but there's a reason why boutiques have so many of these in the shop window. And I agree, just saw the thickness is 12.6mm, surprised as it feels bulkier than that

Yes 12.6mm is not bulky on paper but on pictures watch has presence. Royal oak is definitely iconic but when you put it next to code, well code looks modern and RO looks kind of old...so code line keeps growing on me also especially these new versions with more interesting dials.

For the shop window comment, well nautiluses for example were also sitting in windows not so long ago:)

Its not bargain but for in house chronograph price is ok (especially compared to competition)...

Finally try and you will know...

The new ceramic midcase chronos and the QP are very nice and definitely on my radar. I'm happy that AP is trying some new directions, when other brands are happy to sell a new dial/bezel color or different bracelet combo as big news.

thanks for the message and comments. i agree the line is growing on me too. i have a RO SS Chrono and love it. so classic. will the Code 11.59 enter the classic realm one day is the question? i do wish the case size was a bit thinner.... perhaps that will be in a later version?

I tried on a Code 11.59 and was pleasantly surprised at the comfort and overall finish. If they could slim down the case, and offer a deployment out the box, I would consider it with a reasonable discount.

I have warmed up to line and the watches are readily available in most configurations. I would have to get this watch at a significant discount as if you buy it for retail it is difficult to move for even close to that amount. If it was a keeper then it does not matter. I do like the blue dial chrono and that is where I would go if I wanted one.

Personally I didn't like the code when released and still don't - can't ever see me warming to any of them.

I quite like the code in some iterations, but the date only and chronograph all seem priced about $10-15k too high.

They seem to price against Patek retail prices, but the equivalent Patek dress watches almost always sell at a discount.

Kind of hard to justify given what else is available at that price point IMO. They do look way better in-person though as others pointed out.

They look so much better in person. I was in love with the burgundy chrono when I saw it at the boutique. Having said that at 50k there are so many other watches I am more likely to spend money on at that price point.

I agree, the chrono steps up the dial for sure. Time will tell whether its got staying power.

I really tried to like the code, but i just cant. Its neither here nor there. Too thick and unbalanced to be a dress watch, and not sporty enough to be a sports watch. It has no identity. The case is very nice though.
