I have a 6.8 (17.5cm) wrist and i am trying to choose between a 15400 and 15450 white dail. No AD close by to try them on so i will be buying the watch online. So i realy could use some advise so that i can make the right choice.

I have sub dates (ceramic) and a sub 14060m. I can wear both models fine altough have a slight preference for the 14060m sizewise for my wrist. I'm not a fan of big/oversized watches.

I'm leaning towards the 15450 but some YouTube videos with the 15400 on a 6.5 inch wrist is making me question again as it looked fine and propotional.

Its a bit hard to measure but i think the top of my wrist is about 2.16 (5.5cm) so i asume lug overhang won't be an issue with the 15400

I have a 6.9 inch wrist and the 15450 looked penny sized on my wrist and I wanted to take it off immediately. There are many people that have and love the 15450, but for my wrist size I would take the 15400 any day, every time.

15450 is not proportional, that is a fact. Some people like a small and thick watch and that's OK. That doesnt change the fact its pretty thick for its case size. If you want a proportional watch the 15400 is better. Same thickness and 4mm larger. Or, better yet a 15202.

I would look at the overall proportions rather than just the millimeter size of the case.

I understand what you are saying. And yes the 15300 or 15202 would be a good option as well altough the 15202 is about 7K more expensive and 15300 is hard to get new. I have no problems with a 15300 second hand if i could see the watch in person. If i buy online i Always buy new.

Let me rephrase. Which model would wear closer. 15450 to sub no date or 15400 to sub date ceramic?

the 15400 wears big. I own both a GMT (pretty much the same wearing as a sub) and a 15400. The 15400 is very noticeably bigger. The 15450 from what i remember is actually closer to a 40mm Rolex.

The 15300 fits better on my ~6.5" wrist compared to the other models. The 15300 is the most proportional in my opinion. That being said, the 15300 is hard to get, especially the blue dial, so I need to be patient in my search

For reference, here is the case diameter and case thickness for each model:

15202 39mm / 8.1mm
15300 39mm / 9.4mm
15400 41mm / 9.8mm
15450 37 mm / 9.8mm

I have 6.5" wrist and the 15400 felt too big. Your making a substantial investment so you might as well go for the 15202. If you can find one that is.

I have a 6.6" wrist. When I tried on the 15400 earlier this week (and put my name down on that loooooooong HK list....) I didn't feel it was to big. I have a flat wrist though, so maybe that had something to do with it.

But this is very, very personal. As long as it doesn't feel uncomfortable, and looks like your wearing a cuckoo clock, you should be fine ;)

You can pull off the 15400 but if you’re sensitive to size then splurge on the jumbo. I have a 7” wrist and no substitute for the fit.

Have a 7" wrist and had a 15400. Loved it and then found it a bit too big. Sold and bought blue 15300, feel it fits and looks way better. Offshore wears different in my opinion, can't compare the two. I have a 42mm offshore and feel it fits and looks great but I really took issue with the RO at 41mm....

I have a 6.75 inch wrist and have the 15400. It fits me fine but I have a flatter wrist and tend to only wear it when wearing long sleeved dress shirts. I don't like thick watches when wearing dress shirts for work.

Yes thats what i mean. Both look great but the 15300 looks better and more elegant. Although the white dial makes the 15400 a bit bigger as well ofcource.

I cannot find a decent 15300. A 15202 is about 26K EURO while i can get the 15400/450 for 13K so thats a big difference. I think the ceramic sub date is the max i can pull so that narrows it down for the 15450. If it wears or wears close to the sub no date its big enough for me. My 14060m wears perfect on my wrist.

I have a 7" wrist and the 15400. Sometimes it looks too big other times perfect. I had the 15300 and thought that too small and I agree with texasmade. It's my go to when I am wearing a shirt.

Unless your wrist is under 6.5 I would get the 15400, yes it wears big for its size but it's an AP and it should wear big and have some presence, small APs just don't make it for me, 202 aside.

I also have a batman and a 15400 and the AP wears significantly bigger. Not a bad thing, just an observation.

I'd hunt for a mint 15300. The 15400 wears large and the 15450 is too small.

Agree. Have a Batman too and the 15400 wore much larger. I would say the 15300 is pretty close....

Whether or not it's "too" big is a bit subjective, but it's kinda supposed to be big and flashy. The day I grow out of wanting/needing a big, flashy piece is the day the 15400 is gone.

It looks great. But from that angle your wrist looks way bigger then a 7', looks more a 8/8.5' to me:)

Size just one parameter. Shape is just as important i think. A flat 7' or a round 7' wrist will look totaly different. So besides size i think you should look at wrist surface as well. Bit hard to measure but the top of my wrist is about 55mm so that doesnt leaves much room for a larger lug to lug watch.

True its not a dress watch. But a watch is like a 10K suit. If it doesnt fits perfectly and its to big for the person wearing it, no matter how expensive and beautiful the suit it self is, the guy wearing it still looks ridiculous.

Very good point. I have also a 7” wrist and top of my wrist is 65mm. 44 ROO fits well as the sub and speedy look a bit smallish. Therefore my choice would be 15400, which is next on my list :)
