Wear it and enjoy it for a few years. Get a few more scratches and dings. Then, send it to HSWA and it will be returned like new.

He needs to talk to the manager/watchmaker/tech or whoever can give him answers for sure. They are responsible for the damage and should pay to have it fixed if truly are reputable. The "salesman" took it upon himself to do this to the watch is how it sounds. Just acted like knew what he was doing to make the sale is kinda what it sounds like but he hasn't said that so just speculating.

With the brushed finish polished clean at 2 corners of the bezel? There are limits, and this is one of them...

I agree but in no way should anyone except Patek touch a Patek, Neil who knows an expert watchmaker says he does not polish PP or AP watches, I would ask them to pay for the PP polishing, but in no way would I let these people touch again my watch, maybe it will come back looking fine, and when it will be time for service or by asking, the OP will get to know that the bezel has been over polished, again no one except PP should polish a PP watch, OP's choice but to save a few hundred dollars and some time even thinking of giving it back to the same people who messed it up in the first place is totally nuts IMHO, they should pay and take it out of the salesperson's salary, but since they have their own "specialist" they won't agree, and I imagine the OP will agree to give it to them again, a decision he will most likely regret sooner or later, some of the biggest PP experts here, Ken, Martin, Mike, and others, not my case as I am no expert but even this I know, have told him never to give a PP to polish by anyone except by PP, but he doesn't listen, he is still considering going all in, let's hope he won't...

Sorry to hear about that! I'm surprised a high-end shop that sells Patek wouldn't educate their employees about what they should and shouldn't do...

Congrats. From the pic I agree, looks great! And Like I mentioned earlier, any reputable watchmaker will know their limits and refuse to do "any" work that is beyond their scope of experience. I'm just glad PP USA is stepping up their game with the new program to bring on new watchmakers and train them. Should make a huge difference with customer service complaints.

Doesn't hurt that Brinkhaus is the Patek service centre for Canada

I know that's why mentioned PPs center stepping it up with more technicians way we don't wait 6 months for simple devices. Y'all have it made up there in Canada for sure on this one!

Amazing how in North America you can easily find 5711's, and don't have service times of 8 months, in Europe finding a 5711 is just totally impossible and as far as I know the service times are terrible, what a difference

My 5712 had a turnaround of 2months, they did a full service in Geneve though it was done under warranty, think it s really acceptable.
5711 avaliablity is an other story but i wouldn t be surprised if the supply would be highly slowed down by Mr.TS,mightbe its also the part of the 40th anniversary.

2 months is quite remarkable George, you are the first from whom I hear such time, let's hope they are setting this as a standard and that this wasn't an accident in a good way.

Oh for sure they make sure that the supply of 5711 is intentionally low, would really like to know how many were produced, yearly and since the beginning..

So, after talking with all you guys and feeling really noob about the whole thing I took the watch into Humbertown (the only dealer in Toronto)

They confirmed what you guys have said all along. Don't let anyone touch the watch but Patek!!

They immediately without hesitation told me it must go back to Patek in Geneva and they will put it back to brand new. He said the damage will easily be rectifying by Patek and will take 2-3 months.

So I'm going to enjoy the watch in the hotter months and send it in later summer.

They Patek ad said it will cost but should not be too bad. Perhaps under 1000 cdn funds.

I am never going back to other pre owned dealer. I don't care about asking them for money just don't want to deal with them anymore.

From now on only 100% ad and Patek Oem service. Lesson? LEARNED.

God to hear that you learned your lesson, I couldn't believe you were considering giving it back to the same guys who messed it up in the first place, also next time if ever you get a second hand watch, which has a hairline, leave it, had you done this it would have been fine and you would have polished it in 5 years for the service.
Anyways happy to know the watch won't suffer anymore, couldn't believe that a salesperson had polished it, even if they won't give you money, I would still call them and let them know they done enough damage, and you are sending it to PP

I don't care enough to tell them quite frankly. Happy to never go back.

Btw while at the Patek AD I picked up this beauty. I needed a dress watch and since I'm not ready for a 40k Patek complication stunner I got this and loving it! Sorry I know it's a JLC in a Patek thread.
