Mont Blanc Questions

Want a pen for signing wedding paperwork.

1. Do mont blanc pens get discounted like watches?
2. Does the meisterstuck come in ballpoint and rollerball?
3. Blue or black ink?
4. Recommendations?

Thanks

1) official answer is no, but if you look good you can get "better prices"
2) yes and yes
3) blue for me, but it also depends on your country. Maybe ask the official who is checking the paperwork if blue is allowed.
4) what are your preferences. You like large pens or the smaller ones?

My local Costco usually has MB ballpoint pens at pretty steep discounts. It's not as elegant as buying from an AD, but, the prices sure are good.

I got the one at Costco. It's a Starwalker ballpoint pen that goes for $340 at MB, $225 online and $169 at Costco. I love the feel of it and the way it writes.

If I could have gotten a rollerball instead, I would have, but, for the price, this one is quite good.

But, since it's for your wedding documents, splurge and get the one you really want

I got married 2 months ago and, for our wedding, we got watches that we both wanted. I got a JLC and he got a Montblanc moonphase.

Yes the Mozart is really very small.

Here a link to several models ballpoints if you click on the pen and click specification you see the measurements and girth of the pen.

Good luck!

Im happy I didn't get one of the lesser models (costco, etc) I would have regretted it later. Meisterstuck is really nice. They threw in some extra ink cartridges

I wouldn’t say the Starwalker ballpoint at Costco is a “lesser” model. Costco just sells them pretty much at cost. The starwalker retails for the same as the meisterstuck collection. Unless your talking about the LePetite collection.

Just picked up some blue refills (fine) for my BP. The blue is great. Really vivid and fun.

I have narrow interest in fountain pens always liked the Meisterstuck line. Back when I was an investment adviser, I had the fat ball point but sold it because it was too fat. I replaced it with their slimmer Classique model which I still have close to 30 years later. As a lefty, I have trouble using fountain pens for more than a few words but I picked up the Classique Meisterstuck fountain pen some years ago and it works great for the limited use it gets.

I prefer blue ink from Montblanc and Waterman.

Oh, wanna save some money? Buy used. I found my 146 on a popular fountain pen site.

BTW, today's pricing is NUTS! I recall paying about $80 for the ball point I'd bought new sometime in the late 80's. I think I'm into my 146 (which came with a leather case but no box or papers) for something like $150.

I remember the days of the $100 or less Mont Blanc pens.

My first 149 was about $60.00 IIRC.

A classic that cant go wrong. I prefer the rollerballs writing as i find it to be really smooth. However the ink drys out really fast when not in use

Here are my answers:
1. Do mont blanc pens get discounted like watches? Yes.
2. Does the meisterstuck come in ballpoint and rollerball? Yes.
3. Blue or black ink? My favorite is MB Blue / Black. A great color!
4. Recommendations? If it were me I would opt for a MB 164 ballpoint in your situation. It is the larger (the size of the 146 fountain pen) and it is the largest ballpoint that Montblanc makes. I have one and love it!

The rollerball pens are okay, but they run out of ink quickly. Which is not a problem is you know how to refill them, but if not.... at $7.00 a pop it can get expensive.

Just go for a gold or platinum 164 ballpoint and you should have all your bases covered!
