Buying used. Please advise

For some strange reason, I got this urge to get Panerai watch and after one visit to local AD, it was over- I am hooked to Panerai.

So .. I have chance to get used PAM557 at a reasonable price according to Chrono24 / eBay pricing. The seller is providing box, papers, and sales receipts. The watch is out of warranty, but the seller is the original owner and bought the watch from a local AD. Seller provided bunch of pics, I carefully inspected the serial numbers on the case and movement and compared to what's on paper and they match. Seller is willing to deal on Paypal. Is there anything else I should look out for?

Thanks.

As long as the papers are all present and the watch looks fine then there is little more you can do to check - the watch should be fine. If you have photos you can post them here and some of our resident experts can take a peek and let you know if it looks ok.

I recently bought a used PAM from WUS and did everything you did. I also posted all the pics on multiple subreddits for people to weigh in on authenticity. You can ask for other specific photos of the movement and the watch set to a specific time. I paid with PayPal for buyer protection (worth 3% imo). The best advice I received, however, was to buy the seller, not the watch. Check references and speak to them. Do your homework. It's worth it.

As a purchaser you are covered with paypal.

They always take the buyers side in a dispute. Not good to be the seller. He has more to lose.

Sounds like you are doing all the right things. I would call the AD and confirm the purchase and see if they have any history with the watch coming back for warranty work or any other issues. I would also determine from the AD when the watch needs to be serviced and the cost. If it needs a service or will need it soon I would use that as a point to get a better deal. Service on the watch could run as high as a $1000 depending on the model and if you add that into your cost it makes the deal less appealing. Good luck.

If it's not in person, ask for a new pic or two with something to identify they have possession of the watch, and not just pictures; a reference check is a good idea as well.

Guys, I called the store and store confirmed that they sold the watch based on serial number. So I guess this is as legit as it can be.
