watchfinder sale

Another watchfinder sale. Compared to a few months ago, some of the sales on very hypes peices almost feels like crazy discount.

For me this is great as far as watches are concerned. But it does worry me about the situation around wider economy.

It does feel like Watchfinder are trying to offload a lot of stock!

They got burned with a lot of their ceramic Daytonas, buying them at the top of the hype. Now they are available for £20k. And Watchfinder have always been the very top when it comes to price on the secondary market.

A few ones I noticed.

Business that started in Maidstone, Kent. Bought out by Richmont a few years ago. You still see the previous owners knocking around these parts of Kent.

In Geneva they have a boutique filled with individuals even a lousy second hand car dealership would never hire.

And have one of the best YouTube channels on watches!! They set the benchmark for quality shots of watches, while Andrew (their YouTube host) always explained watches in an interesting story telling way

The BLNR on Jubilee is still pretty expensive. I can get a 2023 unused piece for approx. GBP 13k albeit prices in the UK tend to be on the higher side. The Daytonas are also over priced (even after the discount). This is the reason why they have tons of inventory currently. Lots of cash blocked in watches which are not being sold.

One thing for sure is that the market is definitely thawing. We are not too far away from the melting pot now as the losses have made the flippers drive out.

Yesterday, I went to my AD to adjust the bracelet on my Sky-Dweller. The SA asked me if I was interested in a GMT Master II TT CHNR even though I am not on the Wishlist. 6 months ago this would have been unthinkable.

Mate! A 2019 CHNR is available for less than retail in Dubai. There is nothing reasonable about these prices. A return ticket and the price of the watch will cost you less than the price quoted by Watchfinder.

I concur with this. Andrew Morgan is good bloke.

Unfortunately, Watchfinder's practices leave a bit to be desired. They take out links from Rolex watches to size it for your wrist. The links are then sold separately on eBay et el.

I don't like this term grey dealer, which is very US orientated.
It is a term which primarily seems to be people selling new watches over retail, after either buying them from retail, or buying them new off people who have.
A used watch dealer, like any other used dealer, is doing a favor to the public by providing a platform for selling and buying used watches.
I see nothing wrong with this.
Watchfinder I have dealt with many times before, I find them very professional and very good to do business with.

I've found great deals on other watches on watchfinder, but not as much recently. However, it seems like their UK site has better prices for the market than the US site, which I guess makes sense as they are based in the UK. Browsed the US site for myself and nothing really jumped out at me as being a "Must buy" deal, though there are a few good deals.

Why would a watch sale worry you about your economy??

I agree, some of their rolex prices are over the top but their customer service is great. I would not hesitate a second to do business with them if I like the price.

I like the term gray dealer. I HATE the fact that people miss use the term. I hate in general when people are willfully ignorant to anything really.
I appreciate your post and your thought process

I would recommend them. I bought 2 watches (when I say watch I mean Rolex) from them. One was perfect, the other one they took back and refunded very quickly. Part of the Richemont group now.

Then just ask for the full allocation of links to be provided with the watch. That's what I did and never had any issues.

That’s not what a grey dealer is. A grey dealer is someone who sells a new watch through a non-authorized dealer. It’s a legit purchase and not stolen (so it’s not black market) and it’s not an official channel (white market), hence, grey market.

Grey market dealers have been around forever in all kinds of industries. I’ve bought a grey market Nikon before, for instance. In almost all instances, grey market is cheaper than official channels. Part of this reason is that the product hasn’t been activated through official channels and therefore doesn’t come with a manufacturer’s warranty.

All these sellers referred to as greys are almost all used watch dealers. The are selling a watch that has been activated. These purchases usually come with remaining warranty. I’m not even sure how a watch goes out without having the purchased registered, so I think technically all the watches may be pre-owned.

People use the term incorrectly all the time.

I think you are missing the point. The issue is that you shouldn't need to ask. They should sell it as a full set and not resort to underhand practices.

Anyone who thinks it’s not happening go and sell your watches either private, grey whatever you want, then come back to me with facts.

Real money nearly everything is under list I said nearly.

Their prices are still high compared to other parts of the world (HK & US). But they are decent for UK which usually carries huge premiums for some reason, especially in London area.
