Rolex Chronology

Just wondering how your collections began and where they are heading.

First - Explorer II

Second - GMT Pepsi

Third - Have not bought it yet but maybe the Daytona. Not sure why but somedays I really like the look of them and some days I just do not get the whole units per hour thing.

Started 20 yrs ago with Omega Speedmaster Chrono & 1 yr later an Exp 2 Black. 2 & 1/2 yrs ago added a DJ White, Tudor Sub Blue and not getting past the lack of date on the daytona, bought 2 Tudor Chrono's one Silver with Black, the other White with Silver dials. But I still go to the Exp 2 as my preference & so recently sold the Omega as never got wrist time & trying to further reduce the collection and just hold onto the Exp 2. Only need 1. Ok, maybe 3.

Units per hour is a useful way to measure speed. Say you're driving in your car and you pass a mile marker. As soon as you pass you start the chrono. By the time you've hit the second mile marker you stop the chrono, at this point the second hand will be pointing to your speed averaged over the mile you just drove. At 30 sec you'll see 120 (mph).

My first Rolex was a dj, my most recent is a ym2.

Tough choice. Didn't you see the post earlier that you can't call it a collection with only 3 watches (such BS) I think you have a good thing going keep it up!!!

Rolex Chronology

Started with a 16610 replica a friend brought back from Hong Kong about 6 years ago ...lasted 3 minutes after I went for a swim . But the passion had been ignited. A few Invicta 8926's followed ..then three Marcello Nettunos...all sold on ( another "wannabee' watch) then a 16233 gold and S/S...... but a bit"blingy" for me..then a 14060M ..beautiful but sold to finance my daughter's house deposit.. and if honest with myself I really wanted a date model. And tomorrow a "V" serial 16610 is due to arrive . After spending over $12,000 on watches I will finally get what I have always really wanted. Still I have not lost all that much in my meanderings..so the whole experience has been worth it.

I started with a 31mm speed king about 20 years ago. I was darn proud of that watch. Purchased from a friend with $100 down and installment of $50 until I paid off the $500. Sub ND, then SD which I stayed with for years and years. Plenty of others (every sport model, but the Milgauss and Exp 1), but I only really want one diver and one GMT. The GMT being an Exp II polar and the diver being a Seadweller. Actually trying a Sub ND right now, but I think I need to go back to the SD. I love a pretty face and the weight is nice.

My collection started when I was a kid. For my 14th birthday my father gave me my first watch, a Casio that it's running perfectly nowadays.
In 2009 I bought my first automatic: Tag Heuer LINK.
In 2010 I restored my old grandfather's Omega Seamaster (´59).
In June 2011 I bought my first Rolex, Sub14060M.

It's a small collection, but i love it so much.

Now, I'm looking for an Omega Speedmaster (really love that watch!!!!), and after that a DJ. Hope I can reach them!!

Started with a D serial 16710 GMT Master II
then,
a late Z 16710 GMT Master II with the 3186 mechanism and M 116710 GMTc, then i sold them and now i own a random serial 2011 GMT II c again.
Hopefully i will couple this with a ceramic Sub in black sooner or later.

My small collection, has taken more than ten years. Hopefully in a couple of years I will add a nice preloved Polar Exp11, I think I enjoy the dreaming and saving as much as the owning. Having to work and save somehow makes them seem more valuable, cheers

The sickness started around 25 years ago when my wife bought me a new 15010 white face Date with romans. I wore it a number of years as a patrolman.
A few years later I got a 16750 GMT Master just because.
Received a TT Date-Just when promoted to Deputy Chief.
Recently added a 16600 as a retirement present.

I still have and wear them all. Lot's of memories.

Other brands have come and gone, but these are special
