I come from a similar background. We lived comfortably but never had a lot of money growing up. My first car was a ten year old SAAB my Mom paid $1500 for and I worked to pay her back for it.
I just turned 50 and have been into watches for a couple years now and it is my dream to own a Rolex. I've tried on a few now and am getting close to pulling the trigger. We definitely have the means now so why not? I bought my wife a Cartier watch for Christmas a couple years ago and she absolutely loves it. Congrats on the purchase. It looks great! |

Congratulations, your story resonates with many. I only managed to get my first Rolex at 64 so you've got a few years more to enjoy it. There is something intangible about looking at your wrist and seeing one of these there after years of wanting it. Congratulations.

We all took different roads to get here but here we are.
I got into Rolex relatively late. I was much more interested in the technical aspects of horology and really liked the movements from companies like JLC - I was a bit of a complication snob back then. I've been self-teaching myself watchmaking for the last 7 years and am comfortable working on watches (when parts are available). This new skill has increased my appreciation of all brands including Rolex. It's been love ever since. |

At the risk of sounding corny, I was a bit intimidated when I first joined the forum. I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't a rich guy or a country club type and I realized THAT issue was mine. I could get over it and start posting or I could sit against the wall and watch everyone else have fun.
I'm a long time member on a forum devoted to some specific outdoor pursuits and I was the new guy there once as well and now I'm one of the guys the folks look to for answers. I've just now hit a hundred posts. Wow, that was quick. |

This is true about the intangible feeling of a new owner. I'm a new owner as well, and I have to say I don't really know how to describe it other than smile every time I glance at it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
