Rolex clasp stamping

I know this has been covered before, however I can't seem to find the threads. My understanding was the 'rough' textured rolex stamping appeared from 2011 and faded out to the shiny version around 2013 (talking solely about submariner)? Reason I ask is I had seen a sub claiming to be from 2015 with the 'rough' textured stamping. Can anyone clarify any dates of when this was fazed out? Thanks

There is no 100% exact date.

My BLNR bought in 2015 has the rough texture clasp, which I love.

There are no exact build dates and there is no way to know how much inventory Rolex has at any given time to ship to AD's.

Ok thanks guys, it sounds ok then. It was hulk with the rough texture rolex stamp. It all looks good I just thought they may have swapped the clasp to older version for some reason. You won't see a 2017 or 2016 watch with the rough clasp stamp though right?

You are still confusing the year of sale with the year of manufacture.

Unlikely that a popular piece could sit for long however that is no way to get that info.

Yeah sorry I understand you, potentially it could of been sitting around and pronounced new when purchased (later date than manufacturer) obviously as you stated it's unlikely to see this with the hulk. As other member has stated he has BLNR with rough stamp in 2015 that is good enough for me thanks

I purchased it in July of 2015.

I have no idea when it was made, so it has no "month".

I found these 2 old threads re rough vs smooth clasp stamping on modern Rolexes. I found them interesting as missed them first time around!

My SDC4K is around same time and rough stamping as well, but Rolex will send one Sub or SD out with the new smooth stamp, and a day...week...month later send one out with a rough stamp. Tons of examples of stuff like this, including back in 2000 an A serial Sub may or may not have Solid End Links, or a Swiss only dial. I purchased an A serial Sub within an hour of its arrival at Ben Bridge with the rare combination of Non Solid End Links (older style) and Swiss Made Dial (the newer style). Also happened w/ LEC's and Holes cases. AD would get 3 new Subs in a row w/ new style case, then the 4th would come w/ lug holes!

It is new, until someone buys it...even if it's been sitting at the AD for years!

I'm pretty sure you mean this is when his card was stamped?
