The AP ROC on RG bracelet is the best option of all mentioned IMO

It would be between the chocolate dial on bracelet and the AP for me.

I think the AP's a little dressier and the SKD is a little sportier, so whatever look you're going for.

As for the AP, it's a gorgeous watch, but serves somewhat of a different purpose with its complication. So, I'd say it depends on what you're aiming to do with the watch.

My personal preference of the two: SD on leather.

Then again, you're asking Rolex owners for their preference. 😜

Good luck with your choice! Both are beautiful.

I tend to agree with you. I find the complication on the SD very unique and attractive. The AP's chrono complication is not in house either..Thanks for your 2 cents.

They are nice but the uneven sizes of the subdials and specially the off-centre location of the date will take some getting used to. I tried on a new ROC steel with the white dial and black sub dials. wowza. I dunno if it's just me but I think this was meant to be made in steel!

Mick you're a 100% right, no argument here. The only thing is I'd like to continue wearing the watch after the wedding too, I'm 30 so these two options are watches I can wear quite often. I would have loved to purchase a 5980r but for that price I can get a rose gold SD and a steel ROC.

For the record I'm a big AP Royal Oak fan but only in SS, the precious metals make them look too steampunk for me, Uboat esque in appearance at first glance.
Just tried on the steel and I'm sold. You're right this watch is something else in steel. A great daily option.

The AP however, is gorgeous and wins the day by a mile IMO

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding and if it were me, I'd wear your DD2

Welcome to TRF
Thank you! I will consider it for sure.

The size, oyster bracelet with the easy link system and the complications make it one of the best for me. Properly sized the 42 mm watch is great to wear. I would buy the watch on the bracelet and then put it on the straps as you have shown in your pictures. I own YG with the silver roman dial and WG with the black dial. I go back and forth on which one I like the most. It is usually the one that gets the most wrist time.
Love the way you think. It is certainly more "watch" than the DD2. I have no problem going bracelet, but I want it somewhat understated if possible. Would like to wear it in meetings without it grabbing too much attention. I've never owned a watch on a leather strap, but I've loved it everytime I've tried it in stores. Great taste bud.

Rose gold sky dweller on strap. I was able to try the stainless SD on at a basel release event at my local AD. Man, what a spectacular watch..and rose gold? Even better. Looks great in your photos as well.

All that matters here is the skydweller "stole the show" when you tried them on back to back.

Get that

Sounds to me like you should focus more on the upcoming marriage itself rather than the watch you're going to wear...

To answer your question

Yes to Sky Dweller. In S/S with white dial. Beatiful, classy, perfectly understated for both your wedding and the office and all the benefits of the complication.

And spend what you've saved on your bride to be (or if you've got that covered) on a steel AP ROC

Congrats on the wedding, but do remember its about your bride and not you

Rose Gold SD on Bracelet with chocolate Arabic dial. No brainer. Would definitely buy the rubber strap to mix it up a bit too - it looks fantastic!!

Ah, I misunderstood. My mistake
I completely agree, from my experience I like both on the bracelet but the skydweller on the strap feels clunky and top heavy.

I love the SkyDweller. If money was no object, I would go with the Everose on bracelet. I would also pick up a nice leather strap.

Loved the SD. Knowing that the steels would hit the market in September really turned the tables. In my opinion it should have been kept as a precious metals watch only! Happy with my decision.

The AP is a stunner. SkyD are still special to me due to the complication. Does the SS in SkyD cheapen the model? I don't think so since there are many models that have both SS and precious metals. Look at all the AP ROOs and ROs. They have a bunch of ROO SS and then they have the one called the "brick" which is about 60k, all gold and weighs a ton.
