I disagree with your statement. It is worth a lot to these manufacturers because it is free advertising for them. Forget the profit of the pieces, you cannot buy this type of publicity. It has a great value to them and it will make a difference to their bottom line by increasing brand recognition and sales of their regular line to those who missed out. |

It's definitely got some love, someone already sold one in a flash on WUS for a decent little profit.

It looks like a great summer watch. The colors are fun, the watch comes with 2 NATO straps and it's got a 100M BSWR rating. If you're in the NYC Hamptons crowd as many Hodinkee readers are (definitely more than 100 of them) then a shiny new summer watch, preferably one that not everyone has, is a standard purchase. I can see why this sold out. I realize the Tag Heuer brand, the size and missing seconds hand, the general HODINKEE hate out there and some other factors will make this watch not everyone's cup of tea. And thank goodness, can you imagine if everyone liked it. boring.
With all that said, I didn't purchase one before it sold out. So... Does anyone on TRF have recommendations for a similar fun summer watch? My current vote is for the 40mm Yacht-Master on rubber 116655 |

Yeah he/she did it right. First one for sale, wouldn't bank on that happening much more. There's probably a small group of 10-20 people max with the "crap I missed it and I NEED it" attitude you could get to pay a premium. And you would more or less have to do it relatively soon I'd say. |
