Coming in Santos... buyers remorse?

Just bought this at an auction..
Cartier Santos 100 XL Ref. 2656.. don't know what year it is. Anybody who knows about these watches..? Don't know if I should have buyers remorse.. I like it though..
Please let me know if you can enlighten me :cheers;

It's a very nice watch Sir
Here's the article you should read about the watch

I'm guessing you paid between USD 2700-2800 for the pre owned mint Cartier-Santos 100 XL in black leather strap

There more like 4.5k USD.

It's a great watch, probably my favorite Cartier watch.

I believe that's retail price Sir.The OP purchased the watch at an auction house
My assessment of a sub USD 3K figure was based on the LuxPrice Index which monitors the auction house results worldwide over a period of 10 yrs

I wouldn't have buyers remorse as it is an iconic Cartier shape and I don't think you overpaid for the watch.

For that price I would take one just to add to my collection! Seriously? I think the buyer paid a more than fair price and as others have mentioned I've seen them go for much more.

Interesting info... could you generate the same info for let's say 5 digit Pepsi GMT's II as well?
Your assessment was probably quite right, of course you couldn't know I bought it via a very expensive auction house , but overall I now think the price I paid is not so bad considering the box and papers that come with it and the prices I saw they are being offered at various watch dealers' websites. As regards your guess for retail pricing you're a little less well informed it seems.. at least in Holland the newest 2010 model is retailing for 6.800 Euro, that's a hefty 7.750 USD..

In any way the buyers remorse has gone out of the window, especially considering the iconic piece we're talking as some other members have mentioned.
I guess I was just kind of shocked that I unexpectedly became the highest bidder and that nobody else bid again in the last 2 days before the auction ended..

If you like it, then there's no reason for buyers remorse. It is a good looking watch and I've always wanted to try a cartier as I do find them interesting. Enjoy your new acquisition. Congrats.

Always wanted one and admired them, tried one on in watchfinder the other day and I was just so dissapointed, just didn't do it for me at all sadly, plus the ETA left me extremely cold. But like others have said your all that counts.

Was debating between the santos xl and my subC as my first nice watch in 2011. Glad I went rolex bc I have a nice Rolex collection and not a Cartier set.

The only reason I wouldn't buy one is, I don't like oblong or square watches. So that's Richard Mille out then ha ha !
