Actually, sorry to hear about your troubles, I was going to try it too.. I have yet to. Hmmm.. I hear it's very hard to snap in the bezels but easy to take them apart.

Much easier with a press but not too difficult without one. Push the bezel back in place first. Position the insert on the bezel (being careful to align markings) and carefully press into bezel.

I'm pretty sure my fabulous AD's watchmaker put the wrong click spring in it, cause when I tried to get it back to where it was suppose to be it didn't happen. Anyway the bezel was easy to get off and the insert as well, problem was the click spring placement.

This ain't rocket surgery, even for someone like me whose not inclined mechanically, certainly not the first one I messed up and not the last. But, at least I tried, I'll get it next time !

To me it looks like you are the problem.

You got it yet? Keep at it man. You have to kind of turn the bezel ring until the clickspring is aligned properly under the bezel. Then with the spring depressed with the bezelring align the bezelring on the crystal and lay it as straight possible on the case. then is when I have to get the clickspring into the teeth, normally takes a few goes for me. When it looks to have caught in the teeth press down with equal pressure on all sides. Turn and test. If you're not happy.. or the watch isn't happy repeat the first steps. Be careful and take your time. It's an awsome feeling when you pull this off for the first time. LOL It's like getting to know your Rolex from a design point of view. I remember thinking wow it just clicks into place solid as a bank vault!

No, I don't think I'm going to be able to fix it, the spring is pretty messed up. I have an appointment Monday in downtown San Diego for some help on this, maybe he'll let me watch so next time it will be easier.

I got it back with no red date wheel. I'm really disappointed as I was told it was not a problem, then 50 days later there was an issue with getting one.

Have to start all over again looking around. No big deal, I'll find one somewhere

If the crystal is in place, you can always put back the bezel with its insert, WITHOUT the “clicking” wire spring.

You first place the O-spring in place, and then push fit the bezel with the insert in it. This way, you can use your GMT, without fear to knock the crystal off, until you get to an AD to replace the wire spring.

On top of that, you can feel like having an OLD GMT,

as old ones had no clicking but only continuous rotation.

The resistance to be felt in rotation depends on how much you deform the O-spring from horizontal.

After a knock, ALWAYS check your watch in pressure test.

This is how I do it:

after you have taken everything off your watch, I first place the washer and click spring in place, then attach the bezel without the insert. Then I use a toothpick or something similar to push the click spring in place so the bezel can rotate as it should. Finally, I press the insert into the bezel.
