New Exp II or Daytona?
After seeing the $8200 Canadian retail of the new Exp II and my AD telling me that there's a good chance that I won't get the 22% discount that they gave me on the last three Rolex that I bought off them (because the watch is new and "hot") would you consider a white Daytona at $3000 more?
First off, for an AD to pull this sales tactic with a long term customer of theirs will kill the relationship. Second, is the new Exp II worth $8200 Canadian? Third, what type of discount can one expect from an AD on a Daytona? Would you buy new from an AD, grey market or used? |

I believe the 42mm expII to be a much more stunning looking watch.

I think it depends on what size watch you like to wear...to me the Daytona wears small...that is why I got rid of both of mine...

They are both overpriced-- pick the one you like best. Personally I think the new Exp II is a much better looking watch, and I have no need for a stopwatch.

I find it interesting the excitement when Rolex brings out a new model. Never loose sight of the fact that it is an explorer and it will never be in the same league as the daytona. I'd probably prefer the explorer 2 over the gmt but never over a daytona.

What kind of discounts are people expecting or getting (Europe right now) on the Exp II?

Daytona looks great but is really impractical, unless you truly need a stopwatch to time things. For me, the ex II is far more superior in looks and practicality. In the end, I would go with what watch sings louder to you.

$8,200 is crazy for an Explorer, especially since they've blown it out of proportion to 42mm. I'd go with the white-faced Daytona - that's a stunning watch :)

They're both uber sweet, but I'd have to go Daytona between those two.

expo2 for sure, save the few grand towards your next purchase. Daytona is a great watch only if it smiles back at u. It does nothing for me personally and yes it does wear small.
The daytona mystique is over, there are 3 ads in town that have them in their display cases which was unheard of before.

Daytona all the way and I have to have a date. I don't like the Exp II. The hands are fat and too short. I personally think the Daytona is in a different "league" than the Explorer.

The watches are for different purposes. Daytona has PCL and the Exp II not. It really comes down to what you want it for. For work dress purposes the Daytona fits. The EXP II not as much unless casual.
Regarding price I will wait until it cools off before purchasing it at a discount that can't get now. Both are great watches so you can't go wrong. Patience can save you some bucks though. |
