Was It Worth It?

Hell Yeah!!!!!

After nine weeks at RSC Dallas my Exp II R serial is back and more beautiful than ever.

Here are two before shots:

The crown was bad and there was a lot of paint chipping on the bezel.

Lots of dings and scratches on the case.

After:

RSC recommended replacement dial....uh no!

RSC said the hands were bent and needed to be replace so I was OK with that. RSC kept my second hand with patina but all four hands now glow!

Nice fresh bezel and crown...very pleased.

Scratches what scratches? The rest is the same they did a fantastic job!

Looks great - what was the total cost of servicing it?

$700 more than normal because of the replacement parts needed. It was a full overhaul this watch should be good for a very long time.

Looks great. Glad to hear you could say no to the dial replacement, but they'd still service the rest.

At some point a watchmaker must have remove movement and all and put it back for whatever reason. A little carelessness with the tweezers could bend the hands and the only way to see it is with a 10X loupe.

First thing I look at when buying watches is to examine the hands with a 10X loupe. There are tell tale signs to watch for. The outer lines of the hands must be perfect like a straight edge sword.
Perfect lines are good.

Yes the hands...OK I bought the watch from one of those gray dealers that also think they can repair watches.

I just loved the patina and it was the right price. I knew I would have to service it and yes I was surprised but not surprised that the jokers who work at this place had bent the hands.

They told me that they fully service every watch before putting it up for sale and provide a three year warranty but if I send it to RSC it would void the warranty. Whatever! I wouldn't ever bring a watch to them maybe I would let them replace a battery but that's about it.

Shortly after purchasing it I took it to my AD and they said it would need an overhaul.

Looks great. Did they provide any "commentary" about work performed on the movement, and can you estimate the number of years you wore it before RSC?

White dial EXP II always smiles at me.

I'll have to check but I think it just said overhaul on the itemized paper I got no details on the work.

I only wore it for about a week before it went for service.

I don't think it was ever properly serviced at least not by RSC. I think I'll get at least 5-7 years before it needs servicing again.
