[QUOTE=Patton250;6362316]I completely agree. The thing that is most frustrating is that as I do my research and make phone calls is that most of the places I have called the people are incredibly unbelievably unhelpful. It's as if they don't care. As a person in sales this is something I cannot grasp. I might just give up altogether and continue to buy the new Rolexes from my AD. They have really been wonderful. They take my money with an extreme smile on their face and gratitude.]

While i don't disagree with you, what I have found is that many sellers of vintage (unless they are specialists) really do not have the knowledge that many board members do. As much as they like them, it is their jobs - not necessarily the passion. They often don't have the time and energy to do all of the research that we - as potential buyers - are willing to invest.

Hi, I hope it's okay for me to use this thread for help and input (otherwise I'm sorry) as it suits my question rather well.
I bought this 1803 DD with a five-minute-track dial a few days ago. The lume dots are yellow and I believe (from my research) that it's period correct and could be original (the watch is from -68 approximately). The lume on the hands though are quite a lot whiter but they don't look new - but considering the color I'm wondering if they're changed at some point. However: Under strong light in darkness the lume dots and the hands glow faintly for a few seconds - equally strong. Could this mean that the hands are original to the watch even though they are quite white? My dad's 14060 from -91 has slightly yellowish indexes while the original hands are as white as they were new. Here are two photos of the DD ImageUploadedByTapatalk1452617575.219306.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1452617585.774591.jpg Thanks people |
