116334 for a 16610 LV - would you?
Would you trade a WG DJ II Black face bought Nov 15 ( 5 yrs warranty) mint for a good condition 16610 LV from 2006 ?
Probably some cash from my end will be required |

The 116334 isn't white gold, it's stainless steel. The bezel is white gold, though.

I had a 16610lv but sold it couple of months later as I got tired of the green bezel. I tried it with black bezel but then It felt "frankenwatch".
The 16610lv is a retro watch while the dj2 is modern, cool and versatile. So, I would keep the dj2. |

Thanks for your input. I am a little concerned on his trade for the same reason as yours, to get tired of the green. Sent from iPad using Tapatalk |

Don't do it even if there is cash back. The old style bracelet alone will make you regret, not to mention built quality and size differences.

116334 for a 16610 LV - would you?
If you want history then do it. I have actually really been thinking of doing this, but a different route. I love the 16610lv color scheme but I don't like the bracelet and I don't care that much about the history. I wanted to do this instead.
Source a 16610 head only or on a strap should be about 4K. get a service for it. Source the glide lock bracelet used is fine for me so 2k. Finally source the LV insert. I know one available right now for 600. With those costs you are a little over 7k. The 16610lv's go for 7500 and up. You get the LV style but a new bracelet for a little cheaper. You also get the option to have two inserts if you are sick of green. Now you can go hulk but too much green for me and new ceramic bezels are not easily removed / definitely not a DIY. For me, lv. Easy.
She if you get tired of green, switch the bezel to oem black. You still have the maxi dial which is awesome on that watch. And "franken" watch? That's crazy. That's like saying a swap of the 16710 bezel makes it franken. I love my lv. In a big way.

hmm 2 diffrent watches. It really depends. I have the 116334 black and it actually is a very versatile watch. I do own an 116610LV as well so maybe I'm not the best person to give advice.

In a heartbeat. You should totally go after an lv while you still can. They are only getting scarcer and pricier as time goes on. You can always backtrack and get a 116334( they are absolutely everywhere).

In terms of value...the LV. For one thing, look at the fact that an approximately 10 yr. old model is demanding cash from a trade with a 9k watch two months old...
But value isn't everything. It just boils down to, aesthetically, which one you want to look down and see at the end of the day. Your question: would I make this trade? I don't think so...I would probably try to find a way to add the LV to your collection. |
