Black marks on skin from gold Rolex!

Well if it was my watch, the bracelet would be removed first - then brushed clean with clear liquid soap & water - rinsed and brushed - then ultrasonic with cleaning solution - rinse and brush again - then thorough medium pressure steam cleaned for that final removal of all residue that may have resisted the prior cleanings.

Why all the extra work?

I once cleaned an old Jubilee bracelet that came to me in a trade on a DJ. It was dirty to the naked eye. The ultrasonic took 3 repeat cleanings before the solution stayed clear. Even then I saw tiny bits of grit in the bottom. So I broke out our household Steam Bullet and went to work. The paper toweling was dark grey after first round. Took another round of medium pressure before the toweling was clean.

The center links can hold grime deeper than you may expect so I go all out.

It's just the gold wearing away. No big deal.

It's either dirt or oil if someone lubed it....not sure why one would oil it but maybe they did

there are some super fakes. Very very very high quality. they cost about 1 or 2k and are scary good. I am asking because these issues are fairly common with fake gold.

Yeah i see, thanks for the concern. I've handled a few of those fakes of that caliber. They mostly use real gold so it wouldn't be a problem. Also i still know its real

Guy who owned it probably didn't clean it. Only us lunatics on here break out the toothbrushes, variat solution and ultrasonic 2x weekly. Gold wears quicker than steel and all watches with metal bracelets deposit the black gunk when not cleaned regularly.

Please post a few full pictures. I am asking because you are in some ways running Rolex name through the mud, in a way that I haven't heard anyone complain about here before. It would be one thing if you were complaining about 904L allergy (and maybe it is) or something anyone has mentioned before, but this is very different than anything I have heard reported on the forum.

So could you post more pictures of the watch.. That way we will ALL know if it is real.

People on here like crownandcaliber are experts and will be able to tell with just a few full pictures.

Looks good to me. Endlink fitment is good. Gold whilst scratched appears to be solid gold. Nice watch! Us OCD watchnuts are constantly complaining. Where have you been?

I personally did not think i was dragging the "rolex name" through the mud. A friend told me TRF might know something about this.
I remember why i don't visit TRF frequently anymore again [

We have no idea about your Rolex expertise, everything I said was polite and purposeful. Perhaps you are being sensitive?

Do you have any issues wearing other TT rolexes?

Never seen one thread on people having issues with gold Rolex and allergies or blackened skin. I could stand corrected though. This is the only thread I have found on the issue and it is with 904L https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=41386

I have the same issue every once in a while with mine. Unless you have an ultrasonic cleaner for your bracelet its impossible to get it perfectly clean. Any moisture that sits in the link pins or screws or between the links will allow a bit of the black stuff to work its way out onto your wrist. I wash mine and dry it as well as I can but still get some of that black staining every once in a while. It's nothing to worry about. It just wipes off.

A guy posted at VRF his watch was leaving black streaks and smelled real bad, he had never washed it in years of ownership. Gives me the willies to this day.

That's pretty disgusting. I'm guessing you tried on someone else's watch, because I can't imagine a new watch being that disgustingly dirty. That is likely years of bacteria built up from sweat, dead skin, etc., and you should have disinfected your wrist as soon as possible. Tell the guy that owns that watch to get it cleaned ASAP. I can't imagine someone being ok with wearing something that dirty everyday.

I had a customer that is a surgeon bring in his T/T Sub for service. I pulled the band and nearly vomited, there was crud caked inside the lugs, and the band smelled like death. I keep a box of rubber gloves handy for watches like his.

In my experience this is the typical result of a little moisture on the wrist mixed with a small amount of dirt between the links. It's happened to me before and it never alarmed or bothered me.

Test to see if you are anemic. I learned in a chemistry class that a simple test is rubbing a piece of gold on your skin (back of your hand) back and forth. If it leaves a black mark, you are anemic. My mom battles anemia and will periodically have black marks where her gold is.

please look at this. Press the thinking guy--->

then show us the bottom of the pan after you clean your bracelet... I still think it's polishing compound... I may be wrong, but your other YMII doesn't bother you...
