Being a OWG, I would recommend the WG Daytona although I would be going for a Smurf or a WG Pepsi instead.

Hi @timewarped80
I'm formerly from the Omega forum so naturally I would be absolutely delighted if you choose the iconic legendary Lemania based Calibre 1861 Speedmaster The Moonwatch has the credentials that no other watch can boast and its legacy is a source of Great Storytelling to be passed on to your children and grandchildren Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk |

I'd take the 3 piece collection. Though the Type XX and Speedmaster is doubling up a bit, IMO. Great pieces in their own right. I would own one, but never both.

This is a tough question because I don't like the first two watches in the 3 vs 1. If you could do 3 Rolex SS vs 1 Rolex PM and you don't have a 904L allergy, I would do that.

Thanks for all the good responses.
Verdict: sending out a wire for a Speedy. Will attend a Basel pre-showing in NYC for the new Rolexes and make a decision on new SD50 vs. Daytona then :) |

Good call on the Speedy! Can't go wrong there.
I like The Breguet XX but agree it's a little redundant. Breguet makes such incredible guilloche and enamel dials on their dress watches. I'd go for one of those. |

Definitely 3 piece collection then add a Rubber B strap to get 90% of the look of the WG daytona on the Oysterflex.

That white gold Daytona in this case... Unless you're mixing up divers along with the speedy.

I'd stick with the 3 not even a question for a second.....EVERYONE needs a Speedy Pro in their collection and that's all there is to it....and oh yeah, I'm not a fan of the Daytona.....ESPECIALLY with that Oysterflex band.....no dice on that..
Just a few of the fam.....threw er on a NATO last night and man!!! look at that Speedy!!! One of my all time favorite watches PERIOD. IMG_0637.jpg |

Dave thank you brother I do appreciate it and couldn't agree with you more my friend...these are the 3 I have for my rotation for this past week and this upcoming week then back to the bank to grab 3 others..which are also all divers or GMTs...that's how I like to do things anymore...I mean, yeah I have a coupe gold references for when I gotta use my pimp hand, but mostly just simple and useful is my target anymore...also, I've noticed with the more I get into this fantastic hobby the more I dig the utilitarian true tool watch references more so than other references...not that I don't appreciate them which i absolutely do but probably came off sounding as such with my not liking the new Daytona comment, though as the Daytona truly is and always has been a utilitarian tool watch that was designed and made to actually serve a purpose...it's unfortunate that gone are the days of owning a fine Swiss watch such as a Rolex for its true intended purpose and craftsmanship not to mention the other fine qualities of such a watch...not in all cases but most it seems...simplicity and purpose are what I desire and I've focused my humble 9 piece collection around a select few references because to me watches such as the 5513 or 16600 for just a quick couple of examples are the true embodiment of Rolex and everyone needs to remember this...now let's just hope Rolex doesn't continue this big accessory watch trend as it's ruining what I've come to love about the brand...I don't want to NOT like their new offerings but damn...when you take a classic such as the Sea Dweller, make it a standard of 43mm which it never was and then throw a cyclops on it when that's what helped differentiate the sub and SD, you've lost your way IMO somewhere... I'm a fan of the 5 digit models through and through and I'm just fine with that...aluminum inserts and "tuna can" clasps...I'll take em allllll day

I'm not always for "reduce to the max". You probably will not be happy with only one watch.
You always want something new. I would buy the new DaytonaC in Steel. Oh and i am not the biggest fan of the rubber straps. Maybe its only a big hype at the moment. Think carefully. |
