Drilled lugs

Hi Learned Ones,

It's been a while and I thought I have been cured. Alas, the Hunger has resurfaced and I've started looking again.

It's occurred to me after spending hours looking for SD, Subs and GMTs with drilled lugs that 2003 seems to be the watershed year when lug holes started disappearing. Am I right in this conclusion?

Pretty much. For Subs, Explorer 2s and GMT2s, they changed over during the y serial case runs. Early Y had holes, late Y did not. No F did. I think, but don't know for sure if, that's true for the SD's as well.

There are notable exceptions: y serial Daytonas and Explorer 1s don't have lug holes. No five digit LVs have them. All of the 14060m reference have the holes.

I don't know if the five digit Datejusts and Daydates ever had the holes.

I've been on the hunt for the past year for a 16600 with holes case, finally pulled the trigger on a Y18xxxx series. It seems true for SD's as well.

I do not recall any of the Day Date models having lug holes. 5 digit Date Just had lug holes until 1993 ish. The S serial 1993 did not have lug holes, but the C serial 1992 did.
