just wondering...

Hi all, I am looking to buy a sub (hopefully) some time soon. Need some perspective... just wondering how much percentage of your income did you spend on your respective watches?

To each their own, but I think it is better to think of the cost as % of savings/worth vs. % of income.

Someone on another forum once said that only buy a luxury good that you can afford to buy a few times over. Again, to each their own.

As long as it's not instead of a roof over your head or food on the table spend whatever you're comfortable spending.

There is a wide range of people on this forum, some with access to wealth others will never see in their lifetime, as long as you have your priorities in order it doesn't matter what others spend.

Don't buy it if you have to ask.

Three step process;

1) Set A Goal, Determine the watch you want
2) Save
3) Buy It!

You choose the price you can afford. Best of luck.

This has come up before, just be smart and buy what you can afford. It's not complicated.

Don't you want to know the average discount you should expect to get on a Stainless Steel Sub at an AD?

You'd be surprised how risk tolerant some people are. Plenty of folks out there living in houses they can't afford, driving Bentley's they can't afford, and wearing watches they can't afford. Everyone is different. You have to define your own risk tolerance level and your own comfort level.

Me personally.... I like to sleep at night. So believe me, I will never let a watch purchase keep me up. To each there own.

Are you doing a marketing project for Debeers?
2 months salary....
Buying a Rolex has nothing to do with income. It has everything to do with disposable cash that you choose to spend on a watch

My two cents? My budget for "stuff" is disposable income. Once I convert cash into "stuff" it no longer has the same liquidity as cash and I've removed that purchasing power from my balance sheet. My approach to "stuff" is that it's nice to have but if it walked off tomorrow I need to be able to live without it. Cars, motorcycles, watches, and all that other hobby stuff that I have? If I woke up tomorrow and it was all gone? It wouldn't be the end of my life. Sure, I'd be pissed. But it wouldn't impact my real life.

I'm just guessing here, but I'm going to bet the people that don't like the question, spent more than they should have.

The amount they could just drop on the ground and walk away from. There are many here that clearly overextend on a regular basis. Hence why I don't mind his question. He's getting a feel for what makes the smart spenders comfortable as far as percentages.

I wouldn't buy a Rolex unless I was certain that I would never have to sell it out of necessity.
