I couldn't wait.

I had to go ahead and get it out of layaway, budget be damned. Bank interest is a joke, anyway.

Here it is in my humble abode.

I think it's beautiful.

Heartiest Congratulations Mr Grady! That's the best picture of the watch you have posted ! A little expert reworking on the dial to preserve its authenticy & originality as much as possible. That's a genuine crown Mr Grady, the polishing on back case is not overly done,Thank God the code number is still visible. It's all Good Sir ,You're Set for Life !

Congrats Grady. I like the elongated 3, 6 and 9 min markers, which were, I believe, intended to be useful in timing telephone calls back in the days when they were charged at three minute intervals.

Thank you, Adam!

I've heard of that before.

It was absolutely love at first sight.

I have always loved vintage LeCoultre. I still regret selling my Memodate a few years back. Congratulations on a beautiful watch!

I will try to get some pics in a few days.

I'm curious to see it, too, as one might imagine.

Before I bought my Le Coultre, I tested the chronograph to see if it worked, but of course, I didn't let it run but maybe 20 to 30 seconds.

On July 2nd, I tried to time something I was doing at the time and the minute register only times to three minutes and from then on just clicks every minute.

The hour register doesn't work properly, either.

Well, of course, I'm not exactly happy, as this should have not been an issue at all, or at the very least, it should have been made known before the sale.

The good news is that the watch has a one-year warranty, so on Monday I took the watch in to have it repaired.

The watchmaker picks up watches from the shop on Wednesdays, so I'm hoping to hear something from them today regarding a prognosis.

I try to be philosophical about such things and have in the past gotten my vintage watches fully serviced immediately, even if they seemed to be running well, just to be safe.

So, I don't mind that the watch will be out of hand for a few weeks and of course, I'm glad that the repair will be under warranty and not out of my pocket.

The shop has a 1950s Tudor watch in the display case that is just beautiful and the price is reasonable, considering the warranty, but I'm not so sure that I feel comfortable with this shop now.

I'll just have to see how this all goes.

Thanks, Phil.

The watchmaker the shop uses is retired and just does work on the side.

He has a good reputation going back several decades, but he does work at his own pace.

As I told the saleslady, while I am disappointed with this situation, it's not like I don't have plenty of watches to wear in the meantime.

Then I showed her my BLNR, and she said, "Oh, I see you have the sought-after one."

I have always looked at this foray into vintage as a learning opportunity and as a wise Norwegian once said, "Experience is the best teacher, but the tuition is high," or words to that effect.

Well, today, after two months of waiting, my LeCoultre is home again.

The shop closed for two weeks for vacation and as soon as they returned, the watchmaker took two weeks vacation.

I was expecting the first vacation, but the second came as a surprise.

Now, it's fixed and all is well.

I've still got my eye on that Tudor.

Any opinions out there about this one.

That dial! I love tuxedo dials. It would be a great addition to any vintage collection.

I agree and I've been offered a very good price given the warranty that comes with it.

They are now having the movement looked at buy their watchmaker to get an assessment of its authenticity and originality.

I will of course seek a second opinion when I have a chance to do so, as there is satisfaction guarantee that offers a store credit.

Not as good as money-back, but pretty good.

It should just have an ETA 2484 movement. An abundant amount of parts are available and they are easy to work on. A really reliable, robust workhorse movement.
