But I definitely would not want to know the actual tab.
My wife tracks all that stuff and basically if we merely limited it to one night out a week, we could save a gold Rolex every year

Life's too short to stay in the house and watch tv 📺

Sometimes in life......ignorance is bliss. This is definitely one of those sometimes! There have only been a small handful of times when I've looked back and regretted a particular night out from a spend perspective. Figure that's a minor "occupational hazard" for the myriad number of times I've had great meals and drinking festivities.......

I was in NYC a few years ago for a work event. After dinner, we went on a pub crawl. Stopped in one place where supposedly the celebrities would go. We had 4 drinks...1 martini, 1 red wine, 2 champagne...$120 (w/tax & tip).

So, I'm guessing you didn't buy many rounds over the decade?

I have an elderly aunt who plays bridge on a weekly basis with her contemporaries. You'd be surprised (or perhaps not) at some of the pettiness that enters into their conversations.

Why bother. It would only add fuel to the fodder for certain detractors. While some of my OPs may appear offbeat, others have been relatively 'down to earth' simply reflecting everyday life in general. Our existence is mercurial at best.

It's very reassuring to know that someone is actually keeping track of such trivialities. Maybe someday you can be a moderator.

If you are insinuating that I am a cheapskate so be it. I've reciprocated in many instances but I don't cater to deadbeats.

Bar Tabs Sure Can Add Up

Don't shred them.... Get a bigger box and check back in ten years.

You drank with deadbeats for nearly a decade?

For crying out loud BC, you need to come to Vegas 2018.

That's kind of a harsh commentary and somewhat narrow in perspective. Not everyone who hangs out in a dive bar is a deadbeat. Some were college students and others blue-collar workers. Deadbeats have been known to patronize upscale bars as well. They just dress better.

Perhaps you misconstrued my use of the word deadbeat as all-encompassing when it comes to dive bar environments. Some patrons are, while others aren't.

BTW, have you ever seen the movie 'Barfly' with Mickey Rourke and Faye Dunaway? Good flick.

I agree with Bas, Seth. You work hard. Enjoy your down time and don't sweat the bar tab.

Financial friction can shred a wallet. But that is the cost of living life. Rock on BC, rock on.

Oh geez. Years ago. Can't remember when. But, Dunaway was always easy on the eyes.

There was a time 20+ years ago that $300-$400 was usual for weekly spending money. Bars and eating out.

Thems were the days. I think. I can't remember.
