Differences

I want to sell my Rolex Submariner 116610 and buy a PAM 1005. I was investigated and I saw that there are also two similar models: PAM 631 (black dial) and PAM 632 (brown dial) with the same prices. I can not find the differences between the three models. Can somebody help me? Thanks friends

Thank you for your advice. And I tell you you're right. But mine is not a change. I want to sell my Rolex for what it really is worth and buy a used Panerai for what it really is worth as well.

I say, "Sell that Sub, buy a PAM, but .... "

buy a 44m Luminor with screw lugs and screw down case back, like the 005, instead of 1005.

Or even better, go with the one of the newer ones with 8-day movement.

005 >>>>>> 1005.... have to stay away from the snap back and bezel of the 1005. For the same reasons, avoid the 630-632 models.

First of all thanks for your advice ... but could you explain a little better what is the reason for avoiding the bezel and the back in the models 1005/631/632?

Thank you very much.

At equal prices, I would rather have the 005 vs the 1005. The 1005 is a newer model with a sort of snap on back (vs screw back of the 005). There are those that say that this makes the watch less of a water/diver watch. For most of us that limit our water activities to the pool and beach, with an occasional shallow dive the difference is irrelevant.

The bezel is integrated into the case in the new watch. There are those that say that this makes the watch more costly to repair (can't just replace the bezel). Again, most never replace their bezels.

Lastly the 1005 has spring bars vs screws in the 005. I don't think one is better than the other - just personal preference.

Panerai has a cult-like die-hard following for sure. This group generally holds the belief that older is better and that Panerai is taking a step backward with their newer models. I generally don't hold that opinion and belief that each model should be evaluated on its own merits.

That being said, I would prefer the 005 over the 1005 (assuming same price/condition) simply because the 005 is no longer being made. While it will not likely be a collector's model (lots were made), it nonetheless will stand the test of time as an 'old-school' model that walked uphill both ways to school in the snow.

Not sure I'd sell my sub for a PAM. What's making you want to get rid of the sub? If I did flip the sub, I'd probably go with a PAM 24, 111, or 233.

I have owned Panerai longer than any of my Rolex. Get what you like.

I have been down the Panerai road and while I like the brand I will never get go deep again. I currently don't have a Panerai but will probably pick one up sometime this year. I would never consider trading my Sub though. For me the Submariner is the cornerstone of my collection and the best wearing watch Rolex makes.

If you dont have to keep your Sub and add Panerai.
Go for 005 as it is better than new 1005.
At least in my book.
Good luck
