Nautilus options

I owned a 5726A white dial a few years ago, it was my first Patek. Sadly as many of us do I traded it off. I have owned as many as 14 Pateks at a single time. At this time I am down to seven but looking to add another. Perhaps it is all these Nautilus treads as of late. The only Nautilus I own right now is the 5711. I have owned the 5980R the 5980/1R, 5980/1AR, 5726A-001.

I have the bug again and am thinking of another. I have several watches on strap, yet I have a Nautilus 5711 already on bracelet. But still thinking of a strap. I threw in the 5712G too.

Which would you pick and why, thx.

I voted 5712r only because 5712 (steel blue dial) wasn't an option.

Out of the options given, I easily prefer the 5712R.

If you’ve had those Nautiluses previously – had being operative word – why repeat what you’ve already done?
Surely there are other brands you could enjoy that, for one reason or another, you’ve ignored in favour of satisfying your Patek wants?

Perhaps give some of the new Baselworld releases a go, check them out and see if any of them sing to you. If not, why not RM, Journe, or Lange? Owning that many Pateks in the past and not wanting to hold on to them should tell you the story.

I have 2 RM's and 6 Journes. Lange does nothing for me.

7 Pateks, 6 Journes, …, 2 RMs, and a partridge in a pear tree?

What about DeBethune? A good buy pre-owned.
http://www.watchprosite.com/page-wf....open_bLoB_s-0/

A Romain Gauthier perhaps?
Or a Lebeau-Courally Phase De Lune or Micro Rotor, for something definitely not one of the usual suspects.
And then there’s Groenfeld, with their Bespoke Remontoire using Kari Voutilainen’s dial maker.

Exactly, the guy has the means, so there's no where else to go but up.

Gents - honestly those do little for me. Just considering another daily sportier watch. I have several dress and dressier casual, just really thinking about a daily

I will suggest going for a bracelet, u already have 6 on strap ,
If I were u , I will get the 5726 white dial again , it is marvelous,
I own one & love it , my second choice will be the aquanaut travel time , lovely sport watch ...

Fair enough, but at the risk of repeating myself, why do you want to repeat what you’ve already had and discarded?
As someone else said, that in itself tells you all you need to know.

You want “sportier” – yet have a 5711?
I’m not exactly sure what you think your Richard Milles are, but they’re certainly not cocktail dress watches!

So, on a related note…how about a cheaper RM that you can wear daily?
WG RM05 – https://www.chrono24.com/richardmill...-id5392514.htm
And seen here with a nice grey leather strap – https://www.chrono24.com/richardmill...-id6265277.htm
Would give you the opportunity to play around with straps to vary the look.

Or a Ti RM023 – https://www.chrono24.co.uk/richardmi...-id6435687.htm
The colour and weight may make it more appealing for daily usage.

If you really didn’t want to put that much into a daily wearer, and because it gave inspiration to RM, I’m tempted to suggest a Frank Muller Vanguard Carbon or blue Yachting.

Another less out there alternative would be the Girard Perregaux Laureato, which would offer the option of bracelet or strap, as too would the like of a Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Metrographe, without having to go to the rotating bezel of the Pershing 002, although that would give you rubber as an option.

Gentlemen, would you mind if I bring back this thread with a question to the Nautilus lovers here? What is so wrong about the 5712G? I know many will say that they prefer any Nautilus on bracelet, but it is really weird how much more popular the 5712R is comparing to the G. The result of this poll is just an example. If you search for the 5712R on IG it will show more than three times more results than the G, which has the same dial layout, in a nice gray color, on a white metal case and a high quality strap. Why in your opinion is the popularity of the R so strikingly highier than the G for the 5712?

I think that this is a general trend with white gold watches, where the difference to stainless steel is less visually discernible. The silver dial of the 5712G is also rather shiny in my view and the overall monotone look relatively unappealing when compared with the 5712R. I also think that the silvered moonphase on the 5712G loses some of the charm of the yellowed variant on the 5712R.

If you (or other TRF members) are interested in the 5712G, there is one in stock at the Patek Philippe Salon in London. I recommend speaking with Jonathan about the piece.

I found the 5712g to be too grey a dial that can get washed out. The 5712r has a grey dial most of the time rather than brown so I didn't go for that one either, instead I went for the 5711/1R when it was released, also nice to have a Naut on bracelet.

I loved my 5712G——traded it and regret it.

It was my first Patek, many moons ago, but in general the 5712 is by far my favorite.

I personally love that grey dial.

Agree 100%. I just couldn't get over how washed out the dial looked in all different lighting conditions. Just really the wrong color for me. I saw more glare than beauty. I knew within a couple weeks that I would eventually let it go - kept it for longer to give it a chance, but eventually it had to go.

i love the dial of the 5712R, there is that shiny glare in the center, it moves when you move your arm. i find it very cool. in fact, i turned down the G model for the R and would not go back on that. to be perfectly honest i just agreed to an offer i got for the 5711R - contradicting one of my postings from a few days ago::::))))

As others have said, the G's dial tends to suffer from a lack of contrast and looks washed out. In contrast, the R's dial is very deep and rich, and plays off nicely with the RG case.

I know quite a few ADs that have the G in stock, but the R is on waitlist. The secondary market has also spoken - the delta between the two is quite significant and G just tends to be hard to move in general.

I agree and love your 5164r. It's my favorite sports watch on a strap from Patek.
