BREAKING NEWS - Watches & Wonders CANCELED
Sad news:
This morning in Geneva they announced that the Watches & Wonders (former SIHH) is cancelled because of Coronavirus. https://www.watchesandwonders.com/ge...2_2020_ENG.pdf It’s a matter of time before they will do the same for Baselworld :( |

Has anyone even been excited for SIHH or Baselworld the past 5 years? We can skip a year or two.

So when Baselword gets cancelled will Rolex simply do a press release of the new watches? Is this unprecedented?

I would assume Baselworld gets bombarded with questions right now. We should get a press release from them too rather soon

I am afraid that Baselworld will get canceled in the next hours, too, which may put the final coffin nail into their business model

So many have already pulled out of Basel. Citizen, Bulgari, Casio, Bulova...

All shows have been canceled. I wonder if any of them will get refunds.
So how do they announce new watches? Via instagram? Website... how? |

It’s always exciting to see the new watches come out but you’re right about the lack of excitement for this show.

If an anchor exhibitor like Rolex/Tudor or Patek pulls the plug, then I expect Baselworld will fold this year’s event.
Whether the organizers weather that for a 2021 show would hinge on their contractual contingency clauses and/or risk management posture. If wisely crafted in advance, the cancellation might be fully protected from a financial perspective. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I’m going to be in Switzerland during those dates and I was not planning to attend the show. I’m also not interested in Baselworld but I am hoping to see the Omega museum.

I concur! Those haven't mattered to me in a while. It's still sad, nonetheless. Just a reminder of how other upcoming events (like the Olympics) could potentially face the same fate.
