I recently shattered the crystal on my relatively new and only Rolex. It's the 124270 Explorer 36.

I contacted a local watchmaker/friend in the DC area, and he stated his Rolex parts privilege doesn't extend to current-production models. Therefore, he wasn't able to access a crystal for the Explorer, and said RSC is the best route.

Is this the case for all independent watchmakers? Due to time constraints in the US, I am hoping to avoid long RSC delays if at all possible, so seeing if any other options exist. TIA

A broken crystal needs a full overhaul to ensure that there are not any glass or grit in the movement anywhere or contaminated any oils.

There is no real shortcut here.

I would be surprised though, that the Explorer had a crystal unique to any other model available.

La ref del cristal nuevo es 25-7000-2 con antirreflejo, la ref antigua del modelo anterior es 25-246-1, sin antirreflejo.

It can’t be repaired but needs a replacing- you also may want a full service as other said to make sure no crystal powder is grinding your wheels.
