Again, thank you. And $250k is more than I’d be comfortable spending. A local individual is offering an 1815 chrono in rose gold for $37,500; 2016 with full box and papers. Would you consider this price point to be on target? Again, I’ve been a Rolex guy and feel pretty knowledgeable about those; I’m just flying blind on the A.Lange models.

I just realized the 1815 does not have a date. Never mind!
Gibraltar, that black face Datograph is gorgeous!

The A. Lange & Söhne Thread - including daily pics...

The Dato and Dato Perp are awesome watches! ~$50k and ~$90k respectively.

The movement view is the best looking chronograph in the world (in my opinion). The problem (for me) is they wear like hockey pucks. I’ve almost bought many times and walked away, because my appreciation for the movement doesn’t overcome my lackluster feeling about actually wearing the watch.

The Langematik Perpetual is easy to live with due to its rapid adjuster and automatic movement. It’s one of the best looking watches in their catalog (in my opinion), and is a steal at the prices you pay for gently used. ~$45k

I made my choice.

It’s a little on the high side, but values have been going up over the past year. You could have bought it under 30 in early 2018.

I know that watch...it is in fantastic condition with very late dated papers. If you want a RG 1815 that one is in fantastic condition.

How do you like this watch? I recently tried it on in WG and I think it may be my next significant watch purchase. The AD didn’t have a platinum version in stock but I would love to compare the visual appeal and weight of the two.

My personal favorite version of this watch is the RG. The warmth of the RG is a perfect counterpoint to the coldness of the moon phase. Of course, YMMV.

I love it. It has a solidity and quality that is very Lange with a face that could not be anything else. The shock of blue that comes through on the moon phase (and how it changes over the course of 24 hours) gives some whimsy to a very Teutonic object. I didn’t like the original black strap (exceptional quality but just too sour) so I got a new one made by Jean Rousseau to better highlight the blue. Now it will dress with jeans as well as with a suit...

Thank you! I really need to try this on in platinum! The silver dial seems more versatile than the black dial on the WG model. Hopefully they have one in stock next time I visit the boutique.

Understand where you are coming from here but to me I have always liked ALS in white gold or platinum. Some how the colder metals fit the design language better in my mind, more “Teutonic” I guess!

Can anyone comment if a discount on the 1815 flyback chrono is possible at a boutique?

You likely won't get much if any discount at a Lange boutique. You should, however, be able to get a decent discount at a Lange authorized dealer. Personally speaking, I think the 1815 Chronograph is one of the finest watches available and is a bargain, even at list price.

Tempted to Purchase Pre Owned Lange 1 YG

Been a Rolex and AP Owner all these years, but always admiring A Lange and Sohne especially the Lange 1....

Yesterday, my trusted 2nd hand watch dealer has this pre owned A Lange and Sohne 1 YG (year: 2008) Ref 101.022....the condition is said to be 9/10 complete with Box and Paper....the price is USD 17,400....

Please kindly inform me if this is a fair price for this lovely piece?

Regards,

New strap

Found an IWC strap on Ebay for my Dato. Many thanks to Edwin, the old Lange moderator on Timezone. I sure miss that guy.

Happy Friday!

Regards,
Definitely a fair price. I recently got my 2006 101.032 for a similar price from my AD.
