If you need a strategy advisor for the new business let me know :)

For your purpose, the McLaren is a better marketing tool than the R8.

If you want to turn heads, stir up conversation, photos, etc., it’s McLaren. An R8 is easily acquired and relatively easy to live with, but you are not shopping for a daily driver!

I will send you a PM.

And I do agree. You put it pefectly. It is a marketing tool, so turning heads and starting conversations is exactly the purpose of this vehicle.

You know where my vote is......Crown Vic. I've already converted one TRFer to a Grand Marquis. I'll keep chipping away at you.

If your purpose is to create a real and visceral reaction, it's the Mclaren all the way. I'm as much a car lover as anyone on the planet and the Audi does nothing for me. Zero. McLaren will turn heads all day every day everywhere you go. It's an exotic...period. Audi dealerships are everywhere.

You can definitely lease an exotic used car. I have a colleague who owns a leasing/financing company in NY/NJ. They deal with all makes and models from Ferraris to Toyotas lol if you want I can put you in touch with him. I don't personally benefit anything from it but if I can help out a fellow TRFer why not

Yep that's what I meant to say, especially living in the tri state area you see less McLarens around than R8s.

Are you waiting for the updated R8 coming out soon or getting the Gen 2.1? The Gen 2.1 can be had a big discount right now.

The 570 can be had a large discount too, just need to shop around. I actively shopped both cars and ended up with the R8. At the time it was the better car for me. However, with that being said I always felt the 570 was the better sports car and a lot easier to drive.

Also if you are over 6', the R8 is definitely going to be an issue. I am right at 6' and my head was touching the headliner. The 570 is just as limited since the back seats really can't recline.

I vote 570S GT4.

Sure there's no VIN or airbags and the passenger seat is optional, but it's a real looker!

Congrats Seth and whatever you choose. Audi is a great car but dated looks wise at this point. Hard to pass on the sound of the big NA engine though...If I was looking at something to have fun on the track with I would look at the GT2RS.
He is not a member anymore but if you remember Paul, he has had all these cars and is still doing the car thing. Good guy to talk to regarding this subject.

McLaren kills the audi with looks and exotic feel. If I was to drive it a ton I would go with Audi.

I bet you the overall cost to maintain and fix engineering flaws is higher with a Audi.

That's not true. Go to the dealer they could have an 18 with a few miles they will lease.

That said I much prefer a lambo huracan. The 2019 msrp is the same as the McLaren. Yes I know the McLaren is faster. Doesnt matter to me.

We all know a Tesla would smoke both if speed was the only concern

Test drove the 570S the other day and was not impressed. I have a '19 NSX, so I was comparing the 570S to that the entire time and couldn't justify the buy. The NSX is much more responsive. If you have the budget, go with the 675LT.

Huracans look a little tame IMO... and the doors don't go up.

I love the NSX. And have a dealer walking distance from my home. I also just read an article that they unofficially lowered the price. Maybe I’ll check it out.

Truth is, numbers on the McLaren came back way higher than I was initially told. Sure, it’s a write off but I’m still not feeling it at the moment.

So we shall see.

It’s beautiful in jersey tonight and I’ve taken the Targa out for a spin. It’s glorious. Might be I just do nothing at all. At least for now. Maybe I’ll monetize the site and start collecting a little income before I make the move. And then do something like a 458 or 488.

Doesn’t matter to me either.

Not one bit. I honestly don’t get the obsession. Sure, I want speed and power. But a couple of moments faster to 60? Doesn’t effect me at all.

I would personally get the R8 because, in my humble opinion, that NA V10 is simply unparalleled when it comes to sound. And I love a good sounding sports car.

With that being said, the McLaren is far more exotic looking, and I do believe it is the better driver’s sports car (with the R8 leaning closer to luxurious GT).

Cool decision to be making!

FWIW give me a driver and a rolls Royce. Or better yet a pilot and a citation x.
