ADs get the scraps. OBs availability will ebb and flow based on purchases/deposit refunds for the next week. They had 20ish available as of EOD yesterday.

Nationwide. I should have specified. ADs were given an allotment which is separate from this 20ish I quoted but it’s looking like 2-3 at best let AD is the norm and are being pre sold or being offered to preferred clients like any other allocated pieces.

This watch has so much bling on it, is it likely to be worn or spend its life sitting in the display case?

Very true, but you would have to assume a significant enough spread to create an arbitrage opportunity big enough to move the needle from a quantity inflow standpoint.

Agree. It’s a very pale and subtle yellow gold.

Based on this, it's definitely not for me. The press photos looked better. But good luck to those on the lists.

Agree, surprised at how much I DON'T like it in that wrist shot. Maybe bad lighting but that grey step dial not doing it for me.

Really?
I would say my two tone Datejust is way more blingy than this one!
The moonshine gold is a very light, subdued color, and the fact that there is no gold on the case or bracelet, doesn't make it blingy at all.
I intend to wear mine, if not I wouldn't be buying it.

The nice thing about the overproduction means I won’t feel guilty for putting wear and tear on it. Think Snoopy edition. So cool but too precious.

considering a watch too precious to wear is very sad in my view - if you are not going to wear it then why buy it?

I think this is what is so wrong about this speculator driven market we now have for all kinds of goods - what is the real value of a Ferrari that is so valuable you cant afford to put miles on it?

mini rant over

back on theme - I like the new watch but not at £8000 RRP let alone any speculator price

I pre-ordered mine yesterday. I'm still on the fence. I want to see it in the flesh.

On a side note, the new soon to be released Sea Master is the business.

Many of the photos here lack the details that make this watch IMO. I think with the subtle gold bezel and the contrasting polished/brushed bracelet, this thing will be beautiful in the flesh.

These photos show some of those details and I think it looks great on this wrist shot.

Availability

My omega boutique have ordered 50 but expect to receive 25 but the point is none of them know many they will receive.
The boutique I use have taken 25 deposits and will take no more.
I’ve been told I will definitely get one but until it’s on my wrist I’ll hold my breath.
I’ve never had a Speedmaster but hopefully I will soon.
Good luck to everyone who wants one and congratulations to anyone that gets one.

Gotta admit it looks much better in those photos. However I just simply can't get past the 9 sub dial. I would be all over this watch of it had the usual 60 sec dial. I'm trying to get past it but I just can't. I'm bummed.....

I agree that atheistically it would look “cleaner” without the graphic but I see it as what makes this watch unique. I think it will be a great conversation piece. For those into watches they will know what it is immediately and for the majority that aren’t, it’s interesting and different enough that I think it will cause a lot of interest and maybe even get some non watch people to take an interest.

I also love knowing that the odds of seeing someone else with the same watch is very low. Unlike my Sub which is a dime a dozen where I live.

I also would have preferred a clean 9 subdial, but Snoopy being there was cool, as was a good in the dark cartoon iron man. Why not a golden bottom about to touch down on the Earth's only natural satellite... one of the most historic and iconic events in history?

In fact, I passed on a silver Snoopy when new because I thought the dial was cheesy and made me cringe so what do I know! ;)

New movement
New bracelet
Gold accents
Fancy case back
Ceramic bezel
Special box
"Limited" edition
Major anniversary model

There is enough to justify the price IMO, but obviously I would have liked it to be cheaper

All good points, can't argue with you. Definitely a beautiful and unique piece. My 9 sub objection aside, they did a fantastic job on this LE. If the price were lower I might get one.

Loosely related question: what is expected to happen to the "normal" Speedmaster Pro (hesalite!) in the future?
Will it get the new movement? Will they keep it as is?
Whatever happens I hope they don't change anything about it, EXCEPT the movement. Or even just keep the movement the same, since that is how the watch was certified for space travel.
